Everyones just gonna vouch for their own musical interests.

Keeping with that tradition, I recommend Necrophagist, Cryptopsy, Decapitated, Suffocation, Gorgoroth, Kalmah, and Death; all great bands. Your grades are guaranteed to improve.

Mozzart's and classic in general is suppose to help. I just listen to whatever's on my mp3 player though.. like Asian music (BoA, Shinhwa, K etc)

Techno/Dance for Math, Science, and Econ. Classical for History, Religion, Philosophy, Art. Rock-a-Billy or R&B for everything else.

classic rock...haha yeah i know its not classical or very calming, but its a fun, up-beat tempo that sorta motivates me, and classic rock is basically the mellowist type of rock...frankly, id go for anything that isnt rap/R&B/today's hits (then you're singing along and it can distract you, or bring up more recent memories and thoughts), and at the same time, something you're familiar with and like...if you dont listen to the type of music often (say, you listen to rock/pop and dont really like classical, then you're going to spend your entire time clicking through because you find the songs boring) or dont like it, it will distract you more...also, try to match songs that are similar in type/tempo, because if you get a fast song, then a slow song, then a country song, it will be more likely to distract you
classic rock just happens to be easy going yet doesnt make me want to fall asleep..=P

BoA? You really don't like your eardrums much, do you? Oh well, better than SMAP, I suppose...

My vote is for anything that doesn't have lyrics. My current passion is Yo Yo Ma.

yes ive mostly been listening to sigur ross, smashing pumpkins, and the harry potter soundtrack lmao

My favorite tracks for studying:

Cafe del Mar by Energy 52. Any mix works, although Three N One is my favorite.

Insomnia by Benny Benassi, I also like his remix of Fischerspooner's Never Win.

Most anything by DJ Tiesto or Armin van Burren.

ATB's instrumental tracks--specifically Trilogie Part 1 & 2, Sunset Girl, Far Beyond, Gentle Melody, & Circular Symmetry--the ones with vocals work too but sometimes I focus too much on the singers he uses (who are always quite good).

Fire by Ferry Corsten.

Most tracks by 4 Strings--especially Desire and Jewel.

If Dance/House/Trance isn't your style and you want something darker, try Bohren & Der Club of Gore's "Black Earth". To best describe it, the music is gothic jazz.

If you want something more "mainstream", the albums "God Shuffled His Feet" and "A Worm's Life" by the Crash Test Dummies are good.

Finally, if you want some Christmas stuff, get Mannheim Steamroller's albums.

As a bonus, try to find the Steve Angello's edit of Moby's Raining Again.

The trouble for some of you is going to be finding this stuff. iTunes should have most of it, but if they don't and you have to go the local record store (or if you don't do iTunes), be warned that most places don't carry a whole lot of imports. Best Buy seems to have the most--they had lots of Tiesto, ATB, Ferry Corsten, Benny Benassi, 4 Strings, etc. the last I was there.

yeah for smashing pumpkins! lol tho i listen to it while i study it sure doesnt help cuz im always buying more of their music..I jus found out about them about a week ago and cant get enough! (I hadnt even heard Tonight Tonight or Cherub Rock)

Yeah attack opinions that you don't agree with. That's really mature isn't it??

Actually I only used her as an example because she's one of the better known ones. I really like Misia, Sunmin etc. I don't like BoA all that much but she has some really catchy songs... and there are plenty of people out there who likes her.

Smap... is interesting. haha. I gotta agree with you there, they really can't sing. (i only know one song from them anyhow)

Enya-maybe and any kind of classical. Songs with decipherable words usually distract me, so I'm better off not listening to anything. Opera's okay too because i don't understand Italian.

By the way, does anyone know any good foreign rap bands?

I tend to go with the Who or classical music...

jimi hendrix and sometimes classical music.

trentemoller - the very last resort (CD
)

it's really sad how ppl are fed music by corporate interest (ie. Clear Channel and Viacom) instead of going out and discovering new and independent music for themselves...there's really a lot of good stuff out there if ur willing to search for it and expand ur tastes and accept listening to something that not everyone else is listening too.

we're not "fed"...most people do listen to something that not a lot of other people around them know about....but its not a bad thing to listen to mainstream stuff....i happen to LOVE the Rolling Stones, and they're pretty "mainstream" but i found them on my own going through my dads collection of music....

The Stones rock!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best band ever!! I found their albums in my dad's collection as well!!!! Pretty much all of the bands from the 60s and 70s rock.

60s, 70s & even 80s Rock is awesome. The Stones are awesome!

yesterday, when I was doing last minute studying for my orgo exam I had "Final Countdown", "You're the Best Around" and "Danger Zone" on repeat.
