I'm facing the same dilemma as some people here-- I've applied to like 20+ places but with no experience, no one will hire me. I guess Indy's a pretty tough field for jobs. And I want to get an internship, but I have no connections and I don't know where to start, so basically I'm stuck at home doing nothing but reading, reading, and reading some more....

thats funny...in my town there are SO MANY JOBS for teens its ridiculous...
and its a small university town

oh god, there's nothing in my area...I've applied to at least 10 jobs and no reply...my friend managed to get 4...I'm so angry

^^ I have a plan: steal your friend's identity!

^^ and steal your friends paycheck!!

U could join the national guard and be in country in a couple weeks, that would fufill your boredom

In Michigan, there are no jobs. Our economy SUCKS.

you could clean up the great lakes.

If you live in Michigan, apply at meijers. That's where I work. Trust me, they hire EVERYONE. Of course, you will be making minimum wage, but it just went up to like 6.08 for minors, 7.15 for everyone else.

agh i have the same problem. interview this thurs for receptionist position @ an optometrist office. blahhh! haha.

how do teenagers go about finding research opportunities? everything i've found requires a college student who's studying in that field. :(

michigan has jobs. not good ones, but there are, in fact, jobs.

if you apply at mcdonalds, they will hire you. if you apply at arby's, they will hire you.

kroger is going through a MASSIVE hiring span right now because of the fact that farmer jack just went out of business, and so their business is up 30-40%, and they bought 17 of the old farmer jack stores. which all now need new people to work there.

anyways, there ARE some jobs, you just have to be willing to work in some place that isn't going to pay you $10/hour or more when you have no experience...

Yes! I got a job interview today! But I probably should tell them I'm going to college in 6 weeks...

I applied at jack in the box and they have yet to respond.

I get ~4k for being an intern at NIH, with no prior experience

You guys fail to realize that once you apply to a place you have to go back to talk to the manager. Just dropping off an application is almost never enough, but if you tell the manager you're interested, they'll usually schedule an interview for you.

Isn't it a bit late to get a job right now? Anyway, if you're looking for an internship next summer, I would recommend looking very early. Start looking before the fall semester ends and apply to multiple internships.

I work at Abercrombie. Intellectually stimulating? Maybe not. Pay sucks too, but the discount's good. Flexible hours, easy to apply, they're ALWAYS hiring. I've had "smart" internships with my county government and a non-profit charity and have been a Page at both the US House of Representatives and my state Senate. Except for being a Page and those good times with Mr. Foley (joking), Abercrombie has been the best job I've had. I love it. If you're not very outgoing it will make you a people person-- you could call it being well-rounded.

like someone said earlier almost any job a teen will have will show them how important it is to go to college, so you don't get stuck in that kind of job 20 yrs down the road lol. i know i don't want to work at a grocery store (where i work now) anymore than i absoultely have to !!

I'm a smart student and managed to get a job with the USGS studying Gas Hydrates at 15 dollars and hr

The book store?
