Next summer I was just thinking of doing some research at a lab, but I'm also thinking that it would be fun to socialize with peers during the summer.

So do you guys know of any science-related (or any kind of academic-related) programs for rising sophomores (I'm currently a freshman)? Not too expensive, and if the deadline hasn't already approached perhaps a chance for aid/scholarship??

You could go to COSMOS. I mean, I don’t know which state you live in, but in California it costs just over $2000 and you could get financial aid. However, if you live out of state it costs $6000 with NO financial aid.

Also, many colleges have summer “pre-college” programs that you may be eligible for. Alternatively, you can look at programs such as JHU CTY, Case Western CTD, Duke TIP, etc. for “talent development.”

In addition, for summer research, there is the Iowa SSTP (for grades 9-11).
