Good things about Tufts

yep.

it’s for real.

they also have an “undo” function on email so you can withhold and email about 5 seconds after you hit send

Hey guys. I just got into tufts off the waitlist and have until tomorrow to decide between boston college and tufts. Any other strong arguments for tufts or against bc?
btw–I’m premed, undecided major, catholic (but looking into other religions), and i’m looking into intermural sports & volunteering

Did you visit both schools?

tufts > bc. without a doubt. tufts has strong science depts.

yeah. i visited both of them. and i loved them both. but what about the ppl at both places???

Tufts has a dental school. Not a lot of schools have them these days (there are only 57 dental schools currently). It also offers both a 7-year and 8-year early assurance to the dental school (8 year one for med).

well i can’t speak for the BC students, but when i visited tufts, the students were extremely nice and helpful. I couldn’t believe how friendly everybody was - everyone was smiling as we passed on the sidewalk and one girl actually stopped us and took like 15 minutes to tell us more about the real life scene/atmosphere of tufts.

When I visited BC, I got the impression (and it’s just my impression) that the people there were fairly homogeneous: clean-cut, preppy, status-conscious and generally looking and sounding as if they belonged in a J. Crew catalogue.

S1 got the same feeling as Snarf. It was only a first impression, so it’s probably unfair (because it is a great college) but BC felt too much like high school to him. The student body at Tufts seemed bright, friendly and MUCH more diverse. Perhaps being Catholic as the OP is (we are not) would have given BC boost, but it was too homogenous for our taste.

As for sports, I’d guess both schools would have good club/intramural programs, though the edge there might go to BC.

If you want to participate in intercollegiate sports then Tufts but aren’t a D1 talent then Tufts would probably have an edge there, actually. If you’re passionate about sports and want to keep playing at a high level but don’t have the skills or commitment necessary for D1 than D3 can be a good move.

I am Catholic and didn’t feel comfortable at BC.
