Hey i got accepted in CU-Boulder but I am still not sure if i want to go there(want to hear back from other Colleges in March and see Financial Aid)? But when is a good time to say i want to enroll so i can get good housing? like a reasonable date since obviously now is the best answer.

Most people request Main Campus housing, and since there are rolling admissions, you may already be too late to get that.

My D is a freshman and is at Williams Village (she didn't send in her acceptance until mid to late March, although she did request housing earlier and put down a small deposit, I think $150). It's about 15 minutes walking and 5 minutes riding the bus from Main Campus. She's really liked it there. The Williams Village dorm rooms are nicer than the Main Campus ones.

Either way, if you accept your admission, you're guaranteed first-year housing.

Good luck in your decision and congrats on your acceptance.

thanks! so does the Williams Village housing isolate you from the rest of the University or is it just a long walk because i can deal with the longer walk?

No, you're not isolated from the rest of the University. I think a little less than 1/3 of all freshman live at Williams Village, so you would be in good company with a lot of your classmates. D still uses all of the amenenties on Main Campus - plays intramural sports at the Rec Center, studies in the Library, etc.

D rides the bus to class (the bus stop is right outside her dorm). The busses run frequently. Additionally, a lot of the kids have bikes and skateboards and use them to get between "WillVil" and Main Campus. D likes it there because she feels like she's coming "home" at the end of the day. She's also pretty close to shopping (groceries, school supplies) as well. She just signed a lease for an off campus apartment for next year. 90% or more of the upperclassment live off campus.

ColoradoMom, How hard is it to find affordable off campus housing? Will your D need a car when she lives off campus?

BG123456, it wasn't difficult because she started early (early February for an August lease). She worked with Boulder Property Management (http://www.bpmco.com) and they were very helpful. CU also has a Housing Office that has listings as well. Rents vary from $500-800 pp, not including utilities and internet. Because D acted early, she found a great 2BR apartment just off the bus line and a 10-minute walk to campus (she'll be north of campus just off Pearl). We're calculating that rent, utilities, and internet access will around $600 per month per person. I think that's reasonable considering that room & board on campus is $800 per month. So she won't need her car because she can ride the bus or walk. There's a small grocery store nearby. She plans to get a part-time job on Pearl or at the School of Journalism (she's transferring there in the fall) to help contribute to food and "fun".

Some students make the choice to live in Broomfield; it's a bus ride away but the rents are cheaper.
