August has arrived and at the moment I am trying to complete my list of colleges. I plan to be on the premed track towards a possible career as a physician. I would like universities with a strong program in biological sciences, not too expensive, a bit of prestige, medium to large sized. Location wise, it must be suburb or larger. Thanks for reading!

Yes, that’s true. What are your parents saying? How much will theypay? If they want you to get some aid or a good bit of aid, then you need to add some financial safeties to your list.

All of those schools are fine for a premed student. Actually, any “ggod school” is fine for a premed student.

It depends on the school, how far above $100K your income is, and on other factors affecting your family finances (assets, other college-age kids in the picture, etc.) If your family income is not far above $100K, and if your assets are typical for that income level, then you might get enough aid from the Ivies, Stanford, or other very selective private schools to bring the net cost close to UC levels. If you get in, that is.

Run the online net price calculators for some of these schools, then talk to your parents about whether they are able and willing to cover the Expected Family Contributions.

Brandeis and Rochester meet all of the requirements in your post.

After running the calculators and having a long talk with my parents, I will probably get no aid from UC. However, I ran the calculator for Stanford and I got about 25k so if I get in, then Stanford would be the best choice value wise. My parents can afford the UC but a school such as USC which will cost ~60k will probably require a loan.

Based on the previous post, I think my choice of school is mostly on preference for other factors. Thanks!
