Hello,

I am about to start my PhD in biomedical engineering, and my interests have lead me to consider opting out with an MS, and going into the medical device industry for 2+ years.

It seems that applying after 2 years of work is realistically viable only for people in Investment Banking and other high-level finance. My concern is finding jobs in my field that will be a bonus for a future MBA application; it looks like admissions are becoming really competitive in the last few years.

i.e. It's hard to imagine that 2-3 years as a quality/R&D engineer III will really impress on an application, even if they are very positive.

At a lot of med device companies, there are pathways for higher level management/consulting which seem like something Id love to do. Some people I know from undergrad are working at places like Accenture.

Id really appreciate some advice about what are some good jobs/fields in engineering to look at?
