Hi guys! I'm from a 3rd year undergrad from Toronto, Canada and I've just submitted my application for the Google BOLD internship's priority deadline of December 5. I've created this thread in hopes of attracting fellow applicants so we can discuss the looooong wait process and hopefully interviews/offers.

I submitted the first part of my application already and will be sending the second part soon… Anyone know how bad it is to miss the priority deadline? Am I basically out of the running? I would LOVE to intern at Google!!

I’m not sure if Google had priority applications last year, but people who applied after the final deadline had been extended (from December 31st to ~January 6th I think) still got interviews… I think if they read your application earlier, they have less people to compare you to so you have a better chance of being noticed/memorable. Hope you were able to make the priority deadline though!

hey everyone! @yoona9, i’m glad you started this! i was just about to start a thread myself, after reading the google bold 2011 thread. i just submitted my app last night before the deadline and am already pretty nervous!!

Anyone know how many applicants typically apply? When is the earliest you think we will be contacted?

Last year I read that about ~3000 people applied. On the Google BOLD website, they said they would start contacting people in January, I believe.

Heya, got an email recently saying that they received my resume from a google employee (who recommended me), and said that I can expect to hear from them within a week. I am inclined to think that the email was automated, but I am not sure. I would be very surprised to be contacted that early in the process.

I applied last year (on recommendation as well), but I got a rejection email in 4 weeks: applied on December 31/2010, rejected on January 27/2011. Perhaps most of us will start receiving interview offers in the first week of January.

I really hope we get interview offers in early January. Waiting is so nerve-wrecking.

I applied for the BOLD internship as well. Where do you all go to school and what department do you hope to intern in?

I’ll start: I go to a Top 10 LAC, 3.8 GPA, significant leadership experience, started organizations, and worked for a Fortune 100 tech company this past summer.

I’m hoping to work in either the finance or marketing dept. I am double majoring in Computer Science and Economics, + I go to a top 10 university. ~3.8 GPA with leadership experience, and I interned at a Fortune 100 company this past summer as well! High five @Raceme, looks like we’ve got some things in common! :)

I go to Stanford, gpa ~ 3.8 as well, some CS background. Actually hoping to get into their public policy department. It’s not formally listed, but I’ve had friends who’ve worked in PP in the past, so here’s hoping for the best.

So I did the main application and sent it in right before the priority deadline but it wasn’t until a few weeks later that I saw the the supplemental one…oops. I got it in a few days ago (so before jan 6th, the other deadline) which one do you think it will be considered for? is this ok?

Sorry to say but I think you would be considered with the later deadline

I’m not really the guy who posts stats because those are honestly arbitrary. Currently a junior at UPenn. I was wait listed last year despite the fact I applied super late. The new priority deadline option is the best way to go if you’re serious about getting an interview with Google.

Note: Remember to stick out, be social, and most importantly be creative. Blow your recruiters out the water with your thought process and be sure to clearly walk them through your responses/answers or you’ll be tossed out first round. Good luck!

I remember Google saying that they would contact people starting in January. Has anyone heard back yet?

Looking back at last year’s thread I would guess people will start hearing January 15th or 18th.

anyone heard back?? I keep reading articles about google hiring a record number of interns but still no news…

Applications finally closed yesterday so hopefully we will start hearing back sometime soon. Good luck to everyone :)

Hey Guys!

I just checked yesterday and the application is still open. I remember last year they left it open a week after the deadline as well. I applied after the priority deadline hoping I’ll atleast get an interview.
