@HeadInTheClouds I’m wondering if where you chose your preferred location and area of emphasis was in the supplemental forms or the original application? For mine, when I applied through my preferred location it submitted it as North America without specifying anything. I also wasn’t given an option for area of emphasis. Anyone else experience this?
@ReedCM Thanks! I got to select location preference in the supplemental form— it was between Ann Arbor and Mountain View
@akk987 That makes sense! I had a feeling those options were included in the supplemental form. I wonder how they determine which locations applicants can pick from?
@akk987 I was referred by an alumni from my college that I connected with via LinkedIn!
@akk987 you can absolutely get a referral after you’ve submitted your application. That’s what I did. Talk to your referrer and make sure you give them the exact email address and full name you used for your application.
This was a question I had and I email the Be Bold email address and they confirmed that my referral was attached to my application!
@ReedCM I’m not sure why Google does this, but it opens up like six application pools for six different locations but all of those applications go to North America. But after a while you will get the supplemental form and be able to select your top 3 departments to work for, then your top choice. You will also be able to select your preferred place to work and pick whether you are flexible or not.
I don’t think where you first applied matters at all, I applied for Sunnyvale ?
My referrer was a fellow alum from my high school who works for Google. I connected with them via LinkedIn as well!
how do we submit a referrer?
@HeadInTheClouds Wow thanks for that. Good information! I’m sure I won’t hear back with a supplemental form for at least a few weeks. Have they contacted you back with any interview info yet?
@redbird97 If you have a referrer within Google they will send you an e-mail with a link to apply. If you’ve already applied then you send them the e-mail you used for the application according to @HeadInTheClouds Your referrer will give you this info.
Hello,
I have applied for Bold Intern 2019 in August. I received a supplemental form a month ago and I received an email saying application is IN PROCESS. Do I expect an interview?
@ReedCM Google has not contacted me for an interview just yet. But, it’s good to know that interviews TYPICALLY don’t start until November (most recruiters strive to have em done before Thanksgiving). This is all according to three people that I know that interned at Google (two tech, one non-tech).
In order to keep my name/application relevant, even with a referral, I went to a on-campus event Google hosted (I go to a non-tech, public affairs and IR driven university, if Google comes to my school, of all places, they probably come to yours haha). Def check if Google is coming to your university!!
@HeadInTheClouds That is good to know. I’d be surprised hearing anything so soon just applying a few days ago. I haven’t seen any events hosted by Google on my campus which is strange because Google has their own campus down the street haha. I’ll have to definitely look into it further!
Hang in there guys!
@HeadsInTheClouds Wait, before Thanksgiving? That’s crazy considering the final deadline for the BOLD internship is in Nov. Also, I thought interviews went all the way until April of next year?
Hi guys, I just heard about this internship because google is coming to my campus soon…is it better to apply before or after the event?
@BladeHunter I think he’s talking about all the applicants from the first round. Every year they have two rounds of applications. One in the summer and one right now (Sep-Nov). I’m assuming they try to get as much of the first round out of the way since they do interview up through April.
@hanabill I’d try to get your application in beforehand. As @HeadInTheClouds mentioned, if your application is in and you go to an event there’s more of a chance that you can bring this to their attention at the event to get it moved along or not be forgotten. Basically giving more attention to your app.
exactly what @ReedCM said
