I had a recruiter, I did not have a referral though, where did you hear this?
@RishiS97 Do you have the full name and contact information of your recruiter though? I had no referral and I only know the first name of my recruiter.
Yes I do yes I do, did they email you from
their personal account or a generic? Because mine emailed from a personal account with full name and contact at bottoms along with the generic
@catchmeinside I think it’s by January, not December. check out number 16 on the FAQ doc: "Please check back in January 2019 with next steps on providing us with competing offer information. "
EDIT: I just realized that there’s two versions of the FAQ doc, one sent on the supplemental and one sent through a “hang tight” email I got like 3 weeks ago. The supplemental one says Dec 2018 and the hang tight one says Jan 2019. Either way, hope we get to hear back soon.
@RishiS97 They only emailed me through the generic email! However, the recruiter’s first name is listed at the bottom of the generic email.
I applied without a referral. When I received the supplemental form, I got the email directly from a recruiter. The following “Thank you for your interest…” email I got is from the generic bebold email, with my recruiter’s first name at the bottom!
@pa55ioncandy I noticed that as well. Some other dates are also different, and in the “Thank you for your interest” email, the FAQ also doesn’t say anything about the supplemental being sent to “selected” candidates. Meanwhile the supplemental’s attached FAQ says that only selected candidates are asked for additional information.
@LilianaCS Just out of curiosity, can you check the last edit date for that other copy of the FAQ (the one that didn’t come with the supplemental)? Depending on the edit date, one of them might be an older version of the FAQ that didn’t get updated. It just strikes me as strange that they didn’t mention the selected candidates thing, because I know that this is only a thing that they started doing this year. In previous years for BOLD, they would attach the supplemental to a generic follow up email that got auto-sent when you finished the first part of the application on the careers site. Considering this year’s supplementals seem to be more personalized and associated with actual recruiters, It would be crazy to imagine that they would have recruiters send out a supplemental to everyone that applied, since there were probably tens of thousands of people.
What I would suspect is that they were working on just updating last years BOLD FAQ but decided to scrap it and make a completely new one at some point. Since these “Thank you for your interest” emails are probably recycled from last year, they might just have forgotten to update the link to the new FAQ.
@LilianaCS That’s really interesting. I just checked and I got the supplemental from the “Business Intern Team” email. However, for the “Google’s BOLD Internship Experience” and the “Thank you for your interest” emails, the first name of the recruiter is listed on the bottom.
Just got another email from the BOLD team, describing the experience and timeline
@BladeHunter Yeah, you’re right. It’s more personalized, so it’d be a bit much to send out emails to everyone.
Seems I can’t see the last edit date where it normally would be since the document is view only. It does look like it’s a recycled document though since it specifies “You will be able to indicate a preference for the type of work and location in your application.” where the supplemental was sent to everyone in previous years.
The dates are all updated to 2018 and 2019 though, like @pa55ioncandy was saying. There’s just a few discrepancies between the dates of #15 and #16, and the mentioning of supplementals sent out to selected candidates on #8 and #9.
If I said that I was flexible with location would my preference result in me not getting an interview/position? I put the Bay area because I assumed that’s where most would be, but I’m open to any of the locations. Just worried that maybe it matters more than I thought?
@RishiS97 I got that one today as well!
@infinitesweet I thought it would’ve been the opposite! The more flexible, the more locations the recruiters can share your information with to determine what role fits you best. I could be totally wrong though.
Also got the email today about the experience! Really hope we’ll start hearing back soon
I’ve gotten that email like literally eight times. Gets my hopes up every time haha
Huh…didn’t get that email you guys got today either. I’m probably gonna give it another week or two, if I miss the next wave of emails, I’m gonna reach out to the BOLD team to make sure that my supplemental went through alright. I’ve gone through my supplemental like 5 times and can’t find any mistakes (getting paranoid that they might have given me the wrong candidate ID or something haha).
Also, you guys who are receiving those update emails, did you all apply in or before October?
@BladeHunter i applied at the end of september
@BladeHunter I applied mid October! It took about 3.5 weeks to get my first hang tight email, and then 3 weeks to receive the second one.
@student3488 @LilianaCS Thanks for the response guys! I received and submitted my supplemental a little over 2 weeks ago. But considering you waited nearly a month for your first one, it probably just hasn’t been long enough since I submitted mine for me to start getting them.
@BladeHunter Yeah, of course! We’re all in the same boat here, and it’s always good to have a little extra information.
I submitted my application in August. @BladeHunter - hang in there!
