No not yet. I am keeping hope and I’m thinking they are going to be starting to notify next week? That would be the mid of Jan.

Application Part 1 will show but Part 2 will deny you. Kind of stupid because people would end up wasting their time with app 1 only to find out it’s closed by app 2.

@fuego - that’s what i think too…but you can never be sure…

@houseoflondon - wow, good job figuring that one out (i’m not being sarcastic here…thanks for solving the mystery :P). Maybe they wanted to do a “psych!” moment…

An email I got from them after sending them my updated grades:

We’ve received your documents and supplemental information and have made
the changes to your application.

We’re in the process of reviewing applications. We will be contacting
students selected for interviews over the next month or so, and will be
notifying all students of their status by mid-February. Please understand
that due to the high volume of applications we cannot respond to
individual requests for status updates until after February 21, 2011.

Thanks again for your enthusiasm for BOLD. We’re looking forward to
reviewing your application.

Wow now thats something new! Thanks for the update woodendynomite. Atleast we can try to take it off our minds and hope for Feb. to come soon.

FYI if you are using either your gmail account or any other public account with spam features, to keep in touch with your recruiter for the BOLD program, make sure to check your spam folder regularly.

One of my friends found that all of his messages from google kept going into spam. If he hadn’t randomly checked his spam one day, he would not have known about his google interview.

I heard about 3 nights ago…how is everyone preparing for the interview? I wonder what kinds of questions they are going to ask…good luck!

liar. No one believe him.

ha! beat ya! I heard 10 nights ago

… are you guys serious?

Are people really hearing back already? They just closes the applications. Hope I hear something soon

No! No one’s heard back yet. The person who wrote the following:

That is a JOKE.

My response to this:

is also a joke.

DON’T SCARE ME LIKE THAT! lol

Boo .

Oh okay. I literally kinda freaked out. I went thru all my spam and didn’t see anything along with checking my trash–all hoping I didn’t miss something. Well now it’s just the waiting game. I have hope! :)

I wonder if you’ll be at a disadvantage if you didn’t indicate a “gmail” account is your way of contact. Although I used my University e-mail account, I do actually have a gmail account. I just use my University e-mail account as my primary way of contacting people. hmmm.

If that’s a disadvantage, then they are going to be losing a lot of good people…:p

I agree! I have a g-mail account as well but I always like to use my hotmail account since thats what I’ve given to most people as my way of contact.

I also applied to Google BOLD. I heard that the process is not as streamlined - I heard that a friend of a friend received an offer for the internship after one phone interview.

Also, what do you guys think of the famous Google Brainteasers? Like “How many tennis balls can you fit in this room and how would you get them here?” Seems like these are consulting-style estimation questions basically. Is it true that they no longer use those in the interview process?

yeah i’ve heard things like that too! It further adds to the whole mysteriousness of the program…>_<

I’ve heard that they sometimes throw those questions in just to surprise the interviewee. Though obviously since these brainteasers are now all over the internet, they use it less and less. They used to use it a lot before their IPO.
