Google Chrome

I'm like overly paranoid but the common app site didn't exactly mention whether Google Chrome was compatible with the site:

WHAT BROWSER SHOULD I USE?

PC (Windows XP/Vista/7)

Internet Explorer 7 or higher
Firefox 4 or higher
Mac (OS X Tiger / Leopard / Snow Leopard)
Safari 4 or higher

While the majority of features will work with other browsers, we cannot guarantee complete compatibility or offer support for other browsers. Users have reported significant issues with the following browsers, and we do not recommend you use them:

From the 2012 app season, did anybody have problems with chrome? Like not saving or anything? I just don't want to switch to another browser like Firefox. I'm just too used to Chrome XD

Chrome and Safari run on the same engine (WebKit). You should be fine.

Unless they have upgraded, I believe there are issues using chrome. Perhaps during the pasting of your essay and short paragraph and possibly pasting in supplements. You can try it but if there are problems then switch to another browser.

I use safari and chrome. I think once you are inside the common app you are doing what their program instructs you to do so you shouldn’t miss chrome too much.

Whoa don’t consider Chrome and Safari as the same – they render pages a LOT differently (when it comes to JavaScript). If the application form on the college admissions site is rendered in JavaScript / jQuery then you could have problems with Safari. Chrome will most likely work (or Firefox). Internet Explorer is a safe bet as for some reasons schools (ugh) design towards IE. Although with IE, your browsing experience will be significantly reduced (haha) :P.

IE?! I think I would rather take my chances on not going to college at all and use Firefox lol.

My son did his application last year in Safari without a problem.

Hahahaha, I know what you mean ZombieDante - I hate IE with a passion. I use FF Aurora for everything!

But I’m just saying, the poorly coded sites are more or less optimized for IE. But yeah… I’d use FF too. My advice was more towards to overly-cautious, I guess!

And all browsers hopefully should work! I was just taking an extreme view on the topic.
