@BirdBolt yea, I applied for the scholarship only. You?
@amanmibra Yeah I did, but my stats are kinda weak. 1750 on SAT, 3.23 GPA and 3.38 (weighted). 99 ssl hours (u might consider these as community service). No significant achievement or rank on soccer team. Are you really looking to get into the camp, or you just applied cuz you felt like it? lol. My friend did. His stats are better than mine, and he’s not really into computers or anything. Just wanted that tuition money
@BirdBolt Hey, man. Stats aren’t everything, you never know, anyone can win the scholarship. But, yea, I mostly applied for the program rather than the scholarship. The program would be great, and would look amazing on my resume/CV. But, yea, keep the hope, again, you never know.
@amanmibra Yeah, you’re right. And hey, I applied for the exact same reason as you, lol
Ah so I was looking at my submitted app and realized I selected “yes” for single parent home when I don’t live in a single parent home! I didn’t do it on purpose though. Do you think this will significantly affect my chances? I applied for the scholarship and the program btw.
normally, an option like that works to your benefit, but since it’s already done, you’ll have to wait and see. If anything, you could get accepted to CSSI and later turned down for the scholarship
Hey GUYS! I also applied to the Cambridge campus, but I’m scared cause I’m not really a minority is computer science (I’m a white Jewish male from a middle class town) what do u think?
@Nokal123 That’s no problem. It is open to all races. I just think they might try to meet quotas (if they have any at all) for minority participants. Your responses to the 6 questions matter more. I hope you put a lot of time and thought into them.
Anyone not heard back yet? Do they tell you if you got rejected or will they just tell the accepted people that they are in.?
150 students are chosen to attend CSSI. I know that scholarship recipients were notified, but others will be notified in the lighter part of May.
@JayLittle So that means if I haven’t heard back by now, I can forget about the scholarship??
@birdbolt, unfortunately that may be the case. I know rep from Google said they would choosing other attendees to camp by May 1st.
@JayLittle @BirdBolt No, I wouldn’t forget the scholarship if I were you. I already spoke to a rep in March, and they said notifications for the SCHOLARSHIP does not come out until early May. I just sent another email to a rep, and I’ll update you guys again when I get a response.
Update on the email:
"Hi Aman,
Thanks for following up. We were able to move through the review process more quickly than expected, but we’re still in the process of notifying Generation Google scholarship recipients and CSSI participants of their selection. We aren’t able to share the status of your application at this time, but all applicants should hear from us one or the way by end of next week.
Best,
The Generation Google Scholarship Committee"
@amanmibra I see. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome @amanmibra… I’m glad that you found that info, I just shared what the rep told me, but @BirdBolt good luck and hopefully, you will hear something back.
First time posting here. I was notified two weeks ago that I got the scholarship and the Seattle session i was wondering if any of u guys know when we’d here back after submitting the form that they had us fill out???
Just got the call. Accepted to the NYC session of CSSI. No email yet. Call came from MI. Hispanic Female. GPA: 2.95 - 3.0 SAT: 1990. Extracurriculars: Awesome. Good luck everyone!
I’m still waiting to hear back. I guess it can be at anytime now.
