With the grace of God - my son has gotten into both. Any thoughts on how to go about choosing

This is obviously a very partial (and my 1st) post as my son is currently a freshman at MC. His experience thus far has been very positive in every sense of the word. His Admissions Counselor is outstanding and was right there for the entire admissions process and genuinely cares for the actual person not just the seat count, a GPA or class rank. DS feels safe on campus as well as in his dormitory & room. His professors really are top-tier academics (and people too), approachable and committed to individual student success & maturity. Christian Faith and Heritage are evident and encouraged in a very attractive and shoring sense. His classes are captivating, compelling and most importantly engaging. The student body is actually there to learn & grow across higher education and personal spectrums. Because of the Welcome Week events, 1st year programs and tailored freshman schedules the adjustment from HS to College has been extremely seamless and encouraging for DS. Again, I’m speaking from a somewhat limited exposure (although he was accepted to and we visited other fine Colleges & Universities), I can honestly say that all of us believe we have been truly blessed by this opportunity…MC has a small(er) (~3,200 Undergraduate & Graduate) student body compared to most institutions of this Education caliber and Academic Offering which is perfect for DS. The campus is purposely & proportionately moderate in size and has an innate charm, natural beauty and character that only enhance the learning senses and experience. The food quality and choices are a real plus as well. No matter where your son decides to attend the fact that you are looking at MC & Gordon tells a (quality & character) story. Godspeed with your ongoing college search, the ultimate decision and his eventual career path!

thanks. your comments are very helpful. Our DS loves the Lord and desires to serve in Ministry. He is more familiar with Gordon (friends etc) even though we all really liked MC too. MC is working out slightly better financially - and we want him (and us) to be at peace with whatever choice on merits - not just friends or finances - and what you write about the academics, student life and Christian Faith and Heritage are reassuring.

We just got back from my son’s Gordon interview and campus visit today. He was very impressed by the campus and by the interviewer’s thoughtful answers to his questions. I know a lot of kids who go there (my son’s Christian high school has close ties with Gordon), but I don’t know much about the experience of being a student there. That said, I met D. Michael Lindsay, the president, a few years ago and thought he was a first-rate intellect, as well as a sincere believer.
If you’re still deciding, maybe do an overnight at each school if you can. That seems to be the best way to experience campus life.
