Hi I'm applying to NYC prep schools. Are they like Gossip Girl or not?

absolutely not

Not. 10char

yes, absolutely. we like to get drunk and have nothing better to do than shop ALL DAY, because even though we attend insanely rigorous schools we have zero homework. of course, our extracurriculars consist of power shopping (i was 2nd at states last year) and vicious gossip. all our parents are ditzy socialites and hedge fund managers and we’d DIE if we didn’t get the latest manolos. we’re all descended from old money, and diversity, what diversity? we’re all drop-dead gorgeous, shallow as a wading pool, and sleep around. that’s all we do, of course.

seriously?

Actually, bigcitylights, last week I went out partying all night with my friends and paid someone to take my exams for me- oh, and then I made a sex tape with my boyfriend and someone posted it on the internet and my school saw it but my parents paid them off and it ALMOST got on page six. *

There would be no show if they told the truth.
That being said, some schools are a little like that…
But seriously, NY has some of the top schools in the country. Do you REALLY think we’re allowed to act like that? We’d get expelled. And if you get expelled from one of the top schools in NY, you can’t get in anywhere else that’s good.

*please don’t take any of what I said seriously. For the people that didn’t get it, I was being SARCASTIC.

^ hahaha yesss

Theres an American group in Europe called Gossip. They are going to be hot on the NYC scene pretty soon. Never judge a book by it
s cover. The lead singer is a fat southerner out of a trailer home but has gained a lot of respect for her talented voice.
Visit the schools you
re interested in. If it feels right, there must not be too much gossip.

I’m not really sure what you’re trying to say about ny schools, maddog15…

anyways, ny has some of the top private schools in the u.s. If you’re really interested in applying to the best ones (chapin, brearley, st. bernard’s, st. david’s, buckley) you need to have really good grades. For high school, you’re being pressured to go to the best colleges in the world. if you aren’t serious about school and like to slack off a bit, I suggest you try some of the other nyc prep schools. They’re not as good as the ones I mentioned, but they’re still really good. If you’re serious about going to a really good school, apply. But don’t think that everybody there is rich, snotty, and partying every day. I went to Chapin for ten years and I was never allowed to slack. Even if you do meet someone that is rich and very snotty about it, chances are that their parents are getting them lots of tutors and they play every single sport and have lots of extracurriculars. Don’t underestimate the prep schools by thinking they’re like gossip girl. You will be in school with very smart, very hardworking people.

I was waiting to see this question on here. Ahah, but no. (:

no, dont worry

i have close friends at brearley and they are madd chilll but some of them are really rich so expect that.

Once again… these schools will kick you out if you act like that…

I laughed out loud and my day was considerably brightened. Thank you.

And back to the topic, thankfully no.
