Got a 2 on AP US Gov Exam when I thought I aced it??

I got a 2 somehow on US Gov. When I was taking the test, I thought this was the easiest test ever, and I was really confident that I got either a 4 or a 5. I was 100% sure at the time that I would at least get a 3. I don't know what happened. Do you think I should ask for a rescore? The only thing that I could think of that would cause this would be College Board forgetting to add the raw scores from the sections together... I don't know what to do because I really feel like I did well on the exam and I am still in denial that I got a 2. I don't want to pay $30 for a rescore because I feel like it would be a waste of money because it rarely happens that College Board would make a scoring mistake.

please respond with your opinion

How were you doing in your AP Gov class? Did you study a lot? Believe me, some of my friends have told me their test was the easiest thing ever and then have received D’s on those tests. It could be possible that you did was worse than you expected.

If you feel that it’s absolutely impossible that you got a 2, I would order a rescore to put your mind at rest.

Overconfidence is probably the number one reason why people do badly on certain things.

You can look this up, but there was a study done where people who thought the SAT was really easy did the worst, while those who thought the SAT was challenging did the best as a whole.

tl;dr

don’t think a test is the “easiest test ever,” especially when its an AP. AP tests are never meant to be easy even if you studied for it

If you took other APs and have consistently scored 4s and 5s on them, I’d say it’s definitely worth the check.

I came out with a 5, but felt like some of the FRQs came off as too open ended (cough voter registration, cough party polarization). The questions are an all-or-nothing affair: You either get a point for each question, or you don’t. It could be possible some of your answers came off as half-botched and degraded your scores. That’s the most plausible I can think of right now.

It’s really hard to say if you should rescore if it’s your first AP. Scores really don’t factor much into admissions as they do in granting credit, and if you don’t really need the government credit, then I think you would be better off saving cash :)

It’s possible that the College Board misplaced your free responses and graded you simply on the multiple choice. I’ve heard of this happening before. If you’re that confident in your exam performance, just shell up the $30 for the regrade.

Can I call them and ask? Would they tell me via phone? I find it ridiculous that I would have to be provide money to to fix a mistake that College Board made (if they made one).

I got an A both quarters (AP Gov is a semester class at my school). Usually my test scores were in the high 60’s to mid 70’s

My teacher says getting a 60 or above is good on her tests.

I didn’t really expect much when I walked in for the test because I didn’t think I would do well, but after I took the test I realized that I knew a lot of the answers and I thought I did really well on the FRQ. After the test is when I felt confident that I probably did better than I expected I would perform before the test.

I called them because I thought the same thing happened for my eng lang test but they said that they will not check that they looked at my essays and multiple choice and even if they made a mistake then they still can’t do anything unless you paid 30 dollars to restore just the multiple choice not the essays but at my school everybody, and I mean everybody, got a 2 on gov but we all had high a’s in the class with great teachers so i don’t know what happened with the scores because not one person got a 4 or 5 but our teachers consistently told us “there is no reason why you shouldn’t get a 4 or 5 with my help, I’ll take it as an insult if you don’t pass” so I have no idea what happened??? I would say just rescore it, what’s the worst that can happen?

College Board only wants money :/

I saw a lot of people on CC saying they got 5’s

Hopefully I get someone nice on the phone when I call tomorrow… does it actually take 6-8 weeks to rescore the test? I find that also ridiculous
