I was quite surprised when I received a 3 because I ended the class with a 93 (and had quite a harsh teacher too). The school I wish to go to (presuming I get in) requires at least a 4 to get credit for ENG1101 and all my friends I know are going to place out of the class through ap lang credit. Should I retake the exam next year amongst a bunch of sophomores? or should I take the English subject test (u need a 750 to place out of Eng 1101)? I really don’t want to be the only one who couldn’t place out of Eng 1101. Also if I do not send my scores will it impact my chances for a top 20 public school (Georgia Tech specifically)? Thanks for any help!
Having just completed sophomore year, retaking an exam for the purpose of placing out of a class when the university in question has a 25% acceptance rate might be premature. Are you taking AP Lit next year? That would be your better option as you would still place out with a 4 on that exam (using GTech as the example).
As an FYI, although it may be different at your HS, 80% of the test takers of AP Lang are juniors.
