Hey I'm new to this site, but I'm in a predicament and thought some of you could help me out.

I'm a senior in HS this year, and this summer I got a 30 on the ACT. I didn't really think I needed to retake it, but I think I made a mistake. I was thinking about retaking it in October.

Will the October ACT scores count for my applications this year?

Will retaking in October prevent me from being able to apply early (before Nov) and the score still matter?

I know most of the people on this site are crazy smart and can give me information, and btw my first choice college is Ohio State University, so I can definitely get in with a 30, I was just worried about scholarship options.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, thanks for any help you can give.

Most schools with early action plans accept October scores, although that is typically the latest they take them.

If you think you can raise your score to a 32 or higher based on practice tests you’ve taken, I say go for it. Scholarships at schools like Ohio State rely heavily upon numbers - having higher test scores can only help you. But if your practice tests are consistently in the 28-30 range, I wouldn’t bother retaking. A 30 is plenty fine; you’ll probably still be able to get some money with that score.
