I got a C in a graduate-level course this semester that was way over my head, and my cumulative GPA's now a 3.56. I'm applying to top-20 LACs (and one or two top-30 regular schools) and was just wondering if this is going to kill my chances.

You can get into top 20 LAC with 3.56, just not into top ones.

That is still a pretty decent gpa and you will have a shot at some of the schools in Top 20 and maybe some merit aid(not that much since your a transfer)

I think that we can say that, if admitted, your GPA would be on the lower end of the cohort. That said, we can’t really make any assumption based upon that number.

I’m not looking at Williams, Swarthmore or Amherst, more at Vassar, Wesleyan, Smith, etc. Thanks all. Hopefully the admissions process is as holistic as it’s claimed to be.
