I got a letter from Princeton about an open house. I'm pretty sure I'm not on a mailing list, so how did they get my name?

You scored high enough on some standardized test. And your name was put on a list that was sold to a company that does publicity for Princeton.

Yes. Please do not read too much into it. So many kids do, only to be disappointed after getting their hopes up and then being rejected. Direct-mail marketing has gotten very sophisticated over the years and it is easy to target people that fit a profile.

Did you ever input your email address to a college related website, such as collegeboard.com or something. I remember when I was a high school senior I received a booklet on Yale and I was so excited thinking they really want me! yay yay! But then they ended up rejecting me:(.

So yeah, sorry to dissapoint you but you must have been part of a mailing list.

yeah I’m not even applying to Princeton, that’s why I was wondering how they got my name thanks though!

Keep calm and carry on!
