Oh and by the way, languages1, don't worry, I'm sure your daughter will be invited... I have the same UC GPA as her and my SAT was a little lower (1950).

I Hope So She Really Likes Santa Barbara. So The Letters Are Still Coming Out Then I Assume. We Live In California But Our Mail Is Misdirected Alot So I Worry That Maybe She Got The Invitation But We Did Not Get The Letter. When Are The Dates On This?

So it's safe to bet, that if you got the invitation then your admitted into UCSB?

piggie - As all the other posts in this thread have indicated (And in prior threads), yes :)

languages1:
4.2 UC GPA
2250 SAT I
740 Math IIC
740 Biology-M
33 ACT

Yeah Azure326!!! I'm just making sure cause UCSB is one of my top choices. I can now breathe a little easier =)

hmm, so i guess we're all in?

that's good news. :)

Yay, but when I first got this I thought it was a moneymaking borderline scam xD, I was surprised that I'm considered a "high-achieving applicant"

My stats are:
3.9-4(?) gpa, 2140 SAT, 660, 720 SAT II, okay ecs and essay

I'm Happy For You Guys But I Still Need The Letter-yuck

Yes. It means you've been accepted. See the following message on the UCSB alum website: "March 10th in San Francisco, March 11th in San Jose, March 17th in Los Angeles, March 18th in Costa Mesa - The UCSB Alumni Association invites you to attend a Chancellor's Regional Reception in your area to represent and promote your alma mater and to share your educational experiences and college memories with high achieving students who will receive admission to UCSB for Fall 2007"

The only letter we received was by email then in snailmail was from ucsb on the Burnaham Engineering and Applied Science Scholarship Program. I redid my daughters gpa with the official gpa through uc. Her weighted gpa which is I believe the lower is 4.11. Her unweighted is 4.33. I used the uc website for this and did a-4 b-3 also 5 for the a in ap 4 for the b in ap's approved. With the 1980 and a score of the two highest satII being 1470 I thought she would have stood a good chance of getting a scholarship from ucsb. More so a letter like you guys got here. How long will they keep sending these letters out? Also for those who got the letter does your application status still show decision pending? thanks for all of your responses

My S JUST got the letter in the mail yesterday, and we are in the Bay Area. So keep an eye out for it-- it still could come. Final decisions won't be officially made until sometime in March, but the letter basically means a decision in these cases has been made already.
Also, three years ago my daughter WASN"T invited to this meeting (some of her friends with higher GPA/grades were), but she was accepted and is attending. The students who received it were more of the "honors"-caliber kids.

got it

does it meann were in?

should i go?

bannana_girl - You're in.

Would it be worth my time going to this thing? Any recap on what we do from anyone that's done it before?

Also, can we RSVP now, but decide whether we should attend later?

you can rsvp, and then cancel at a later date i would think.

I got the letter today. Does anyone know if this has any relation to a notification for Regent's Scholarships? Or are the two completely separate?

if it means we're in how come it says this wen we rsvp

We are pleased that you will be attending the University of California, Santa Barbara reception for high-achieving applicants. Our goal in bringing this program to your area is to provide you and your family with the opportunity to meet UCSB faculty, staff and students who will introduce you to campus departments and student services. Your invitation to this event does not reflect your admission status to UCSB. Offers of admission will be available online and mailed during the month of March.

i cant believe I of all people got this, if it does mean we're really in....

how many of you guys got it last year and what exactly happens at the meeting?

Did I Mention I Only Have A Three Point Five Weighted?

yay!!! My brother and I got one too!

My stats aren't that great, but I'll take it!

Congrats to y'all. I want Cal though! argh lol
