Yeah, I messed up badly. I got A's in all my classes, but got a NP in my Physics 7a class. I plan on taking Physics 8a in the future, but since I'm applying to Medical School, will this NP in 7a haunt me and get me a 0.0 on the AMCAS and other medical school applications. Even if I ace 8a, will 7a a class that was not even Required of me affect me. Thanks for the help, I'm really nervous.

It will follow you, but not affect your GPA for AMCAS. The adcoms will see it, but if you have good grades otherwise and do decently on 8A, it is something you can probably deal with during interviews.

Really? It won’t give me a 0.0 for my science gpa or anything like that?

This class was completely unnecessary for my major and my requirements for medical school.

why take physics p/np?

It does not enter into the GPA. however, AMCAS will report the number of P/NP units passed and the number of P/NP units failed. The fact that you failed a P/F class will be visible, just not included in your GPA.
