Got accepted, can I slack off now?

I just found out that I got accepted to UCSD (still waiting on word from UCB and UCLA like the rest of you folks), so I was wondering if it was an okay idea to start slacking off in school now (and when I mean slack off, I mean not anything lower than a B and I'm only referring to non pre-major courses). I go to a quarter system CC (De Anza) and my winter quarter is about to wrap up and I believe I have an A- in one of my classes, but I can raise that easily to a guaranteed A by doing extra credit assignments this weekend, but they're pretty tedious and time consuming. I just wanted to weigh my options for the rest of this quarter and next quarter and know what the consequences are if I were to choose this slack-off philosophy for the rest of the school year. I started to think this way when I discovered (on this forum) that my GPA starts over when I transfer. I know for sure that graduate schools will look at this, but how much will their decisions be affected? I'm a 3.8 Econ major for whatever that's worth.

I would have to say, go ahead. If you’ve already finished your prereqs then I don’t really think those other courses matter as much. But you should still finish off with a B or higher in them like you have stated. Just don’t slack off like crazy…

I was wondering the same thing!!

For the first time ever in my 2 years of CC… I WAS CONTENT WITH A B for a final grade. It was an honors requirement class, not related to my major at all HEHE :)

i hope your not planning on going to law school… and yes your ccc grades get factored in for grad school so why not continue to do your best? the slack-off attitude might backfire on you later so why take a chance?

If anything, I would push myself even harder. Seriously, especially for Berkeley and UCLA. But the option is up to you. Best of luck! [:

don’t slack off…

the only reason you should slack off is when youre already slacking off, which is just keep doing what youre doing. so just keep doing what youre doing. haha

i wouldn’t

If youre planning to go to grad school, then they’ll see right through this. If you get straight Bs when usually you get mostly As, they’ll know that its because you got accepted to ucsd. they might think youre the kind of person to slack off if theres no motivation.

Yeah, if you are seriously interested in UCLA and Cal. DO NOT SLACK OFF. If your GPA goes too low you will be rescinded.

whoa grad/prof schools are not gonna like that!

You shouldn’t slack off… you have made it this far…why can’t u hold for this last semster at cc. Also, your grades at CC do affect you when you apply for grad school.

Lol maybe I should have responded earlier, but I eventually took the non-slack off approach and went to the extra credit events. I better get an A+ in that class now cuz friggin’ A made me miss some good games this past weekend. Can’t believe Trojans didn’t take care of business against Michigan State. Grrrrr and the only team from the Pac-10 that made it into the Sweet 16 is Arizona. How lame. By the way, anyone else following the big dance?

what class was it?

Philosophy Critical Thinking course that I took for “fun” -_-;;

I loved Philosophy Critical Thinking. Great class.
