I got accepted to Stanford but I had a question about money. I am on an H4 visa, living in California so I don't qualify for FAFSA, Cal Grant, or low-interest student loans. I'm also not getting any money from Stanford itself so I am wondering how I can pay for tuition...about 60K. I know I can do scholarships but that's still very minimal. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Why are you not getting any financial aid from Stanford? Have they already determined what your scholarship aid would be? (I ask this because there’s this common misconception that international students don’t get financial aid, which is untrue; Stanford is not need-blind for internationals, but if such a student gets in and has financial need, they will have 100% of their need covered with the same aid that domestic students get: scholarship aid.)

i’m assuming you applied as an international student, correct?
Stanford might have loans available for you at a slightly lower rate

Stanford only provides 100% need if you were admitted on a financial aid basis* if you later say you need aid, they don’t provide it (other than relatively high interest loans)

I hope you didn’t indicate on the application that you wouldn’t be requiring aid; if that’s the case, you will not be getting any sympathy from the FA office.

OK this isn’t really relevant but I didn’t want to start an entire new thread just for this little question:

I got my CSS profile results and it says I won’t get any aid. It says I should get a large parent contribution, small student contribution, and medium-sized loan. Is there any point in still submitting the FAFSA?
