I know. But uclamomma might be telling the truth. There might be a reason why housing starts on 23rd. Good news still could be coming as long as decision not being made yet.

ahh. its okay. well i’m happy with my second choice school which is sjsu, but cal poly is my dream school! that’s why… i applied ED and got deferred so being rejected twice by your “dream” school (if that happens) is actually really depressing.

congrats! the worst case is we are not qualified for any financial aid. anyone gets merit scholarships?

Just got in Biomedical Engineering. ![]()
ACT 31
GPA 4.5
Unweighted: 4.0
Yes!

My daughter was just notified that she has been ‘wait listed’. What are the chances that she’ll get in?
High school senior - architecture major - 4.0 UW, 4.2 weighted, 1350/1600 SAT

zita WHAT?! I didn’t know Poly did waitlists?!

really waitlisted? How did they notify her? She has good stats…I hope she gets in… :)

i got waitlisted for sonoma state. its new this year, basically its to not turn prospective students who are desirable, but to keep them on their toes for possible enrollment. they still want you at the school (thus why you didnt get rejected instead) but they may not have room for you (record amount of apps this year)

sigh. too many kids this year

Is this also the first year for CalPoly to have a waitlist? Most UC campus will use waitlists this year for the first time for enrollment management, so they don’t end up have to enroll too many students than they can accommodate.

My friend got waitlisted for Mechanical Engineering in 2008 for Fall 2008, but then got accepted. However he is now at UCSD, where he got more scholarships.

I GOT WAITLISTED TOO for architecture!!! Is there ANYTHING we can do? can we appeal?

**its new to most campuses this year is what i meant.

^ actually, i looked at some of last year’s posts, and some people were waitlisted then too, for Cal Poly.

just for the people that haven’t heard back yet: i got in last year with a 3.3 GPA, 28 ACT and 1850 SATs. if you have better scores than me, i’m sure you’ll get in. i currently go to cal poly and love it, by the way :)

what if lower? D:

Has anyone else been waitlisted/know anything about Cal POly’s waitlists? sorry, Im kinda dying here!

naixn, I think it really depends on the major you apply to. Some majors are much easier to get into than others, esp. at Cal Poly. I think thats one of the reasons why they make you decide on a major when you apply. best of luck!

figuresk8ting: Congralations! Odd, though, because my son applied for Aerospace Engineering, had 4.0 GPA unweighted, not sure the weighted but maybe 4.6, SAT 1320/1890 and ACT of 31 with Math score on ACT a 35…and he got wait listed!

Admissions are done by major, not college. I think there are very different admission thresholds across the majors within a college.

how do you find out if you are waitlisted?

Got in for business administration

Weighted GPA: 3.75
SAT: 1210/1600
1770/2400
A few ecs and leadership positions
