Okay…the wait is killing me! I still have a “no determination” status on the portal and was wondering if anyone has heard back anything from Civil Engineering… seems like some of the engineering disciplines are slow to post. Do you think this will be the week we finally hear something?

I got my decision around 2/8 for Business Admin but RBLAX16, when my brother applied for Electrical Engineering which is one of the more competitive majors, he got his decision around like 2/28.

RBLAX16 - sorry to be the one to tell you, but I have a friend whose son was accepted for Civil Eng around 2/10. But that doesn’t mean you won’t; I guess we all have to be patient. Are you a lax player?

have any of you guys received scholarships yet? I just noticed i received the outreach scholarship. Is it possible to receive more money after i send in mid year reports,if i did well 1st semester of senior yr

transfer student here accepted
major is statistics

yeah! Congratualtions!

anyone who was accepted for psych could you post ur stats please? i was waitlisted and im not sure if ill get in

i got conditional accept for biological sciences. im not sure what that means but im in!.
stats: 3.72 csu gpa. 300+ community hours. solid ec. 2100 sat 31 act. 800 bio 750 us history 700 spanish 660 math

Congrats lucylulu! That just means you have to keep your grades above a C and send in your final transcripts. Welcome to CC cal Poly. You will find a lot of useful info. here and lots of excited people!

Congratulations to those who are being accepted! Here are a couple Facebook groups you can join. You’ll meet up with other admitted Cal Poly kids.

cheyenne,
My daughter has not heard yet… as far as I know, she is still not even waitlisted. Her GPA is around 4.15 and her SAT score was around 2000, maybe 1350 for critical reading and math. Her sister, who had similar scores and grades, was accepted for journalism.
Best of luck to you…

Are they twins? If so, we are in the same boat. One daughter accepted, one “no determination”…the waiting is agony!

i just talked to an admissions officer and she gave me some information on the transfer students selected for psychology. there were 539 applicants and 11 spaces. the average gpa of an accepted student was a 3.7. she said there were so few available spots because of the budget cuts.

Accepted for Materials Engineering
Cal Poly GPA: 3.56
SAT = 1450/2190
SAT II = Math 2 (700) - Physics (670)

dalmer: i think hte admissions officer may have been lying to you, because there is no way that they would only accept 11 students or at least take in 11. that is a very small number and for a major like that it just doesnt add up

sorry the worrding at the end is kinda weird. im jsut saying psychology is one of the larger majors and to say that they’ll only accept 11 students because of space wouldnt make much sense

Congratulations NiklasK! My son is in the Materials Engineering program for the Fall too. We are going down on Monday for the Materials engineering department tour and to see the campus in full swing. We have only been there on weekends before. We will post how it went Monday night. What do you know about the program? Why did you pick Materials? Have you accepted admissions yet? Any thoughts about dorms? Sorry for all of the questions, but you are the only other MATE student on here! Congrats again!

I’m just really interested in the whole Nanotechnology field (particularly with an emphasis in Biotechnology later) and Cal Poly as one of the few schools that had a Materials Engineering major. Most of the UC’s don’t have it, and while UCSB has an amazing graduate program in Materials, they don’t offer any undergraduate courses.

I visited the campus over Labor Day weekend so classes weren’t really in session but we saw some of the dorms, students on campus, and downtown and everything looks really quaint. I grew up in the suburbs so Cal Poly not being in the middle of an urban city like UCLA really appeals to me. Oh and dorms are fairly “big” compared to the ones I stayed at last summer at UC San Diego when I took a Calculus and Political Science course there.

Haven’t accepted my admission yet, as I’m still waiting on UC San Diego and USC, however if those don’t pull through I’m most definitely attending Cal Poly.

Thanks for the response. My son got into Materials at Irvine and San Jose State, he also applied to Davis and Berkeley for Materials. He also thinks that he may specialize in biomaterials later on. Berkeley has the best Materials program of course, but it is probably very intense.

We also liked the small town feel of Cal Poly and the dorms are very nice. My son has applied to Cerro Vista and North Mountain.

Keep in mind that Cal Poly has a 4+1 program in Materials. You can get your Masters in Materials that way, which will help in getting a job or going to graduate school. Best of luck with UCSD and USC also. USC is definitely in an urban area though and UCSD is very difficult to get into.

Watch for our post about the Materials tour. We will let you know what we thought of it on Monday.

Pimentnmama:
Yes, they’re twins. Actually, triplets, but the third one didn’t apply. I haven’t asked about admission lately, as the one who got in told me not to. I don’t always obey them, but I assume I’ll be told if anything of interest happens.
The one who isn’t in yet did have a problem sending her SAT scores. They told her that she could resend them (late), but I wonder if that ended up being a problem.
I let the girls do all the work of applications themselves, but at this point I wish I’d helped more. I would have liked them to apply to more colleges, in retrospect, not to mention better major choices (psych was a random selection).
My oldest daughter was rejected by Cal Poly in psychology as a transfer student. She wasn’t that interested in it either. She ended up at UCSD in their International Studies department, and is quite happy.
