How hard is Physics E&M (electromag) at a&m for engineers? I heard it was pretty rough everywhere…

It’s not too rough if you’re willing to put in the hours. My roommate got like a 94 on his first exam but he just sits on his computer and does practice problem after practice problem and I definitely wasn’t willing to do that since I knew I would feel overwhelmed with that. I would probably say thought it’s the toughest out of the CBK courses for most.

That kind of sucks about how geosciences feels like that. I was in comp sci at my NSC and I did not like it all. I went to the industrial engineering advisor and said Comp Sci isn’t for me, I think I need to be track A, I’m going to be honest with you though, I have no desire to stay in industrial though. She said it was fine and transferred me into industrial.

Well, what exactly is a NSC like? Are all of the academic advisers in one room? Or am i traveling from building to building talking to different academic advisers?

Yes - you will be walking from building to building at NSC for different activities, but once you get to the college of your major, that is where you will see your adviser - you will only one academic adviser.

So I wouldn’t be able to deviate and visit the ME advisor and ask if there is space to join the major?

I deviated big time… Halfway through the meeting I knew that compsci wasn’t for me; the guy giving the presentation just happened to show us a list of what majors were open and which weren’t. From there I just left and busted into the industrial engineering presentation. It worked out for me and it may work out for you; I don’t know if I’d recommend just leaving your session though because if it wouldn’t have worked out that guy may have been not very friendly towards me.

Ahh. Thats awesome. So do you think there will be a list of open majors when I get there? or will someone have one?

you should know that right away - if there is room in ME. At check in for NSC there is a change of major area. Just go check into it then.

minipuma17 - have you made the call to the ME dept yet? Have you made the formal request in writing that you want to change majors?

And you can see how they would feel that way in the college of Geosciences? They gave a spot to you and probably rejected someone else who really wanted that spot. I’m sure you get that.

KL, yes I have to both. I even just emailed the actual ME advisor (I believe his name was Beck?) I am just really anxious, because I want to goto A&M so badly. I was just there for the weekend and loved it. Also, I get that, but hey, that probably happened in engineering too, so what can you do.

minipuma17 - I get it too.
I’m hopeful for you to get your change of major - I know you are anxious. I hope the best for you - I really do. You are accepted. You can go. If you do not get your transfer now you can put it in for Spring '12.
You have done all you can - now you wait.
One other idea - visit your prospective student center and talk to an admissions adviser there. Can’t hurt.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it. one final question. Is there a ENG major that is normally open? Like one that is unliked?

I would guess Industrial Engineering- but not sure, maybe Engineering Technology
Some where that info is listed…
I will see if i can find it again.

It was previously listed here: [ENGE Status of Space Available](http://essap.tamu.edu/enge.htm) but it has since been changed and I don’t know if it’s displayed anywhere else.

Industrial is usually open though.

Industrial Engineering was the last engineering to fill up for Fall 2011, followed by I believe Ocean Engineering and Computer Science. I managed to snag a screen shot of what the ESSAP page, the one TxAggie is linking, looked like before they pulled it off their website.

The problem is that almost every A&M engineering program is ranked top 10 and I would imagine alot of people want to get into them
