StanEda, if you call them to check on your transfer units and ask them to take care of it they will process them much faster. I’ve had it done within ~3 weeks of sending

ya thats what i thought was well i applied as a bio major but it was impacted so now im undeclared. Do you know if we can eventually move into the bio major?

hopealope124 (haha i am not following you, i just do not wanna bump up my old thread.),

http://www-biology.ucsd.edu/undergrad/enrollmentmanagement.html

look under continuing students (non-bio majors) which is what you will be after a quarter here. that should explain to you how to get into it. and you should check out the link to the exceptional admission info.

http://www-biology.ucsd.edu/undergrad/exadmit.html
directly addresses students who did not get into the bio major as an incoming freshman
that might be most helpful to you

Wow, that really sucks. So if i end up attending SD as undeclared and plan on switching to a bio major im like screwed if i dont get into the major.

Now im thinking i might just go to irvine, because at least im gauranteed the major i want.

for winter admits, you can join the facebook group “UCSD Winter Admit 2010” :]

hey strongbad, what # were you on the waitlist? I’m wondering if I should take the risk of going to SD and hoping for an on-campus offer…

hahah i never found out. waitlist opened at 8, i submitted my application at 907ish
seriously it wont be a problem if you submit it at 8. within half an hour even. 3 of my potential roommates got offered housing by the last day the administrative offices were open before they went on their winter break (dec 24th-jan 2).

theres not much of a risk more like uncertainty for a while… unless you oversleep like me.

I am considering coming to UCSD as a freshman winter 2010 admit, but am wondering if anyone has started a group…facebook or otherwise…to connect with others in the same boat to find housing together?

yaah i made a facebook group xD [Login | Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=63348951911&ref=ts)

There are a couple of facebook groups for this year’s winter admits:
UCSD Winter Admit 2010
c/o 2010 UCSD Winter Admits!!!

Maybe there are more?

ok. so the c/o 2010 winter admit is “CLASS of 2010”
but the one i made is just Winter 2010 …like u start in winter 2010

if u look at the “c/o 2010” posts u’ll see that they are from years ago. only one is new :]

UCSD Admissions said over the phone that their cutoff for fall admits was 7738 or better. They said they offered 800 students who were a little below that number their winter placements, which have increased this year, but they are actively discouraging students from appealing. I would say if you are in that group of 800 or so, you are in a far better position than the 28,000 students who were rejected this year. You can claim a seat as a UCSD student…even if there isn’t enough on-campus housing to go around. One statistic they gave me was that 65% of the dorm rooms are students tripled-up in rooms originally intended as doubles.
Quite a few UCSD sophomores live on campus and those extra students they admitted last year are filling up those rooms. On other campuses, like Davis, almost no sophomores live in the dorms. UCLA has had a winter admits process for years…which some people don’t realize, and more colleges are going this route. It is a way for them to control their numbers, without technically having a waiting list.

7738? thats almost a 200 point increase… well 162 pts… but still ist a possible chance that it will jump that high again?

and if it does will it be that dramatic?

I heard that this year has the most # of applicants world-wide… there just seems to be many students part of class of '09…

I think the cut-off will increase, but not as much as this year’s did.

Zman1 - There is a phone number to call in the admissions letter they sent out, and the person I contacted was actually pretty helpful.

Does anyone know if the winter 2010 got bumped to fall 2009…I think I read somewhere that they did. Im not sure, can someone clarify that please. THanks

@tata1: as far as i know, all the winter admits got bumped to fall i was one myself

I called the school yesterday and they said they don’t know of any winter students getting bumped for fall 09. Are you a freshman winter admit, because I think it might be different for transfers. Also where did you find this out if it true?

ahh, yeaa
i’m a freshman winter admit
they emailed me and they sent me a letter
