Also, I think that the fact that I attend a all white school has some weight at the admissions departments.

Northwestern, Georgetown, Princeton, Tufts, Hopkins, Chicago, Brown, Penn are the best for IR and although i doubt you can minor in business anywhere except for Northwestern, at the schools that have business schools you can take classes there or you can minor in econ.

If you're looking for an ivy league education, apply to brown. princeton also has a great int'l relations program. johns hopkins, cal-berkley american and georgetown are also good schools for int'l relations.

can you give me like 4 reach, 4 50-50 and 4 safety?

The adcoms don't want to see that you have attended an all white school, then they'll just assume your just a white person who just happens to have some hispanic background and marks that on nationality for better admission results.

You'd be much better off if you went to some ghetto high school with bars on the windows and gangfights and has a graduation rate of around 12%

you stand a good chance at many good schools because you're an URM and your stats, but really don't say "ALLWHITE SCHOOL" as such a negative thing, i mean really your better off as only mexican in an allwhite school then a white person in an allmexican school

how can you attend an all white school, how does that happen these day? just wondering

haha no idea, i guess its not 100% white but its close

Hmm, I think George Washington U in DC would probably be a good match or even safety (not sure how good their international relations program is, though)... I agree with other posters, Brown is best for your Ivy/reach. Gtown is probably a slight reach, same with Northwestern.

if anyone could give me 4 reach, 4 50/50 and 4 safety schools, it would be great!

What would be his chances for Yale or Harvard? Just Curious

Given your not-so-strong freshman year, I would encourage you to apply to schools that ignore freshman year. These include Stanford, Princeton, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, UMichigan, USC, and all the UC's.

If you are able to raise your SAT to the 2100 range, you will be more capable of running the gamut at any school. Even as a URM, a 1900 is much too low for the Ivies - especially since you don't have a perfect GPA.

As of right now, John Hopkins makes a great but reasonable reach. They ignore freshman year and have a high quality IR program. At this point, you may consider ED there which would also help your odds considerably. USC is a good match also, and they do have an undergraduate business program. The UC's and Michigan may be decent options as well, but they are much tougher out of state and don't give much weight to AA.

At this point, schools around the selectivity of JHU represent your reaches. These would include schools like JHU (obviously), Northwestern, Georgetown, University of Chicago, Cornell, and Notre Dame.

Matches would include schools around the selectivity of USC. These would include schools like USC (obviously), UCSD, Boston University, and George Washington University.

Safeties are hard to pinpoint, but it will most likely be one or a couple or a few of your state schools. For example, if you are a PA resident, some of the Penn States would maek great safeties. If you are desperate to avoid state schools, generally look for schools that your SAT would be near the 75th percentile of their admitted students and that have acceptance rates of at least 50%.

If you are able to raise your SAT to the 2100+ range, some of your reaches will become matches, some of your matches will become safeties, and the Ivies + Stanford will become a more viable possibility.

Good luck! :)

yeah can anyone comment on A-SAN's post?

Also, wouldn't his upward trend in grades and GPA probably count to his advantage?
