^ Glad I’m not the only one.

We might end up taking classes together UCHopeful2010.

Yeah, I switched my major this Fall from Econ. I know it will probably take me an extra year, but I’d rather be doing something I will enjoy. I’m getting a big jump on the prereqs this summer (PHYS 2a+b, Math 20C+E) so that I will be able to do internships the next two summers and still graduate in no longer than 3 years.

I’m doing Math 20B, Phys 2A and Chem 6A. If I get financial aid from UCSD, I’m going to drop my community college courses and do all my classes through UCSD in summer. Probably Math 20b + Phys 2A and Chem 6A. I might change my major to Nano Engineering, if they accept my major change. It’ll cut my extra year down to one extra quarter and it’s a new major with a lot of hype behind it. Plus I’ll be doing 6 upper division Bioengineering courses for it anyway.

I changed my major Spring 2009 to Engineering and had to start out at Algebra 2 (Non Intermediate). I toughed it out and tested out of intermediate algebra and took pre-cal in Fall 2009 but I was determined to go to UCSD regardless of being that low on math. I have a solid A in Calc 1 right now and I’m confident I can get an A in Calc 2 in summer.

You go to Mesa College right? Who do you have for Calc 1?

School: UC Davis
Major: Managerial Econ
Missing PreReqs: Calculus 1 & 2
GPA: 3.45

Ken Kuniyuki.
He’s so awesome. In summer I’m taking Calc 2 with Burrus, but if I get financial aid for UCSD I’ll see who the best teacher is for them.

I didn’t have him but i heard he was great. My Calc 1 professor had a link on her page to his website because she said his notes were so good. I heard he was going to write his own book.

school: ucsd
major: econ
missing prereqs that are offered at my CC: calc 3 (and i took ap micro econ but it doesnt count caus ei got a 4) so basically im missing 2 prereqs
gpa: 3.85
TAG +IGETC

He’s brilliant. Every topic in Calculus 1 that people told me would be a challenge, he gets the idea across in a way that makes it easy to solve and easy to understand. His examples are humorous, he’s a funny guy, very understanding. He’s kind of an idiot savant though. He has extreme social anxiety and only opens up when he’s in front of the chalkboard. During our ten minute break, he bolts to the restroom, bolts to his office to grab a snack and then bolts to the corner of the building opposite of where we’re standing and watches us from a distance around a corner.

We all know he’s there, but we know he’s afraid to talk to us outside class so we let him be.

I feel bad about seeing it because he’s actually a really cool guy, watches South Park and he knows a lot about pop culture.

10 minutes before our first lecture, he was eating a granola bar and he spilled some crumbs on the floor. He got down on all fours and picked up each individual crumb.

He’s an awesome teacher though, graduated Stanford undergraduate and got his Master’s from them as well. He has another Master’s in something other than math, I’m not sure what but I assume it’s either computer science or programming because he knows a lot about those subjects.

I think every faculty member should model their curriculum on his teaching and even University professors should take note of his methods. He’s that good.

School:UCSD

Nutty professor = my future.

I got in w/o the correct Physical Geography course, UCLA w/ a 3.52. Still worried about this, but I spoke to an admissions rep yesterday and he basically told me “you’re in, finish the prereq whenever”.
