Got all my acceptances, not sure where I want to go

University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Connecticut (half tuition scholarship)
SUNY Binghamton
Loyola College in Maryland ($6250 scholarship)
Villanova University
Fordham University ($5000 grant)

I got rejected from the schools I really liked (NYU Stern, Washington University in St Louis, and the University of Texas at Austin), so I'm kinda shakey on which of the remaining colleges I want to go to. Any comments on any of these schools?

What interested you in the schools you got rejected from?
What characteristics are you looking for in a school?
What is it that you want to study?

Hey same thing happened to me. Left with schools that weren't my top choice. Now I love it at U of I. What is your major? That might help in the decision. I guess I would pick UMich but I don't know anything about most of those college so . . . maybe I'm not much help.

AH, I want to major in either Finance, Accounting, or Economics, depending on what to school offers.

I loved UT and NYU because of the atmosphere they presented, and something just told me I fit in at those 3 schools when I visited. I don't mind big or small, I manage to fit in fine. I'm not a drinker or a druggie, so those won't influence my desicions either.

I'm leaning towards Loyola because a lot of people I know are going there, and that is nice I guess. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I'm not looking to party 24/7, although that could be nice, but I also am not looking for classes that are so hard I'm studying all the time. The biggest complaints I've heard about Umich are that classes are really hard and its cold. For Villanova, people complain its "vanilla no fun," which might not be that great, considering I am an Indian male.

Loyola in MD is excellent for accounting. Also ranked as the best dorms anywhere. It is an excellent school in an excellent location. You would be pleased if you are leaning toward anything along the lines of business, finance etc.

How much of an issue is money? Michigan is obviously better academically than the other schools in almost all areas, and definitely doesn't lack in the social scene.

I would pick Umich because of rep and education.

I would pick Umich because of rep and education.

Money is really not a problem, selling my parents and my car and getting something cheaper will yield around 160k, so that is doable.

I like accounting, and a lot of my friends are pushing me towards it because they have fallen completely in love with it. Michigan would be my best school academically, but I guess the only thing keeping me away from it are the difficulty of classes (senior year has made me very lazy :()

Michigan isn't easy, but it's not that hard either. If you like accounting, you might like economics as well, which isn't nearly as limited in scope as accounting, and Michigan has a good economics program.

UMich, hands down

Michigan is the strongest academically. But based on overall undergraduate experience I think Fordham is the second best choice to consider. Understandably, if you want to go away from home and it looks like you live right nearby the campus, Fordham may not be the best of the options. But I find it hard to conceive of studying business at Bing, UConn, Villanova or Loyola over Fordham and in the capital of the world.

Michigan is so far ahead of Fordham for business (granted, you have to apply to the b-school mid-way through at Michigan, so you might be rejected, but you can always fall back on a related major like economics) that going to Fordham just isn't worth it if you can survive outside of NYC and afford Michigan; not to mention that Michigan is obviously no slouch in social life. Also, Fordham is heavily overshadowed by NYU and Columbia when it comes to business in NYC.

I agree with all the Michigan supporters. You can't go wrong with UMich!

Have you visited Michigan?

And just in case you haven't, UM and Ann Arbor are awesome.

UMich is a caliber above the rest of those schools. If you hate it, UT will accept you in a heartbeat as a transfer from there.

U mich is the best schoolby name, and has a great reputation. But it is far from home (factor in travel costs). Bing. in NY has a good reptuation. Did you get into the business school. Cost wise its the best deal, and even if money isnt the issue, why spend it all on a school that wasnt your dream, or first choice. If you wanted Grad school, from Bing you will have plenty of $ left to use.
Bing has a campus, not far from home, good reputation. As for Fordham, it is not a true college campus experience. So it is basically what you are looking for.

Bing is much smaller than a U Conn or a Michigan. Is size a factor?

Along with the majority of posters on this thread, I suggest attending Michigan.

Could 'looking' define what is a true college campus experience?
