anyone else hear anything yet?

Congratulations br2011! That's awesome news. Guess you are pretty excited!Go celebrate!

Mailman has come and gone here today...still nothing. This all-consuming anticipation is maddening! Maybe December 15 will be the lucky day?!?!?

Congrats and best of luck! Great news.

Good news! What state are you in??? Maybe my son's will come tomorrow!

My son got an email from admissions this morning at 8:59 am inviting him for a visit - it starts out "Congratulations on your appointment to the United States Coast Guard Academy! " :) He has not yet gotten a letter in snail mail - so check your email! Woohoo.

I know your son was happy. We are still waiting for the mailman. Hope we hear positive news today too.

Has your son visited the Academy yet?

Son attended AIM this summer. Other than that, no other visits.

Congrats OM. They'll be coming in fast now!

That is certainly very discouraging news about the e-mail message sent this morning to OhioMom88's son. I can't imagine USCGA not sending ALL APPOINTEES SAME e-mail at SAME time. My son did not receive any e-mail from USCGA today. Nothing in our USPS mailbox today, either. br2011, did you get the e-mail, too?

My son received his offer of appointment in today's mail. :) :) :)

Congrats GA. Mom they don't always send an email. I think it depends on the Admissions officer.

I got my email today as well, nothin in the mail yet though, I would love to have it in paper

i got the email

congrats GA and RaiderLax!

Son did not get the packet in today's mail either, though. We have a hole-in-the-wall post office which is always at least a day later...so we hope tomorrow. He was so surprised by the email - from Lesya's comments we weren't expecting anything till next week. Did they really have 2000 apps for EA? The email was from the admissions officer.

I told you guys it would be the 15th! Congrats to all and yes they had at least that many apps.

Thanks! its almsot unreal at this point I still can't believe it. I knew it would eb the 15th, it's unlike a service academy to tell you, you will be notified by the 15th and not follow through. I still want that folder to show off though haha.

Just got an alternate letter, any suggestions on how to increase my chances for admittance ? Any idea of how many are in the alternate pool ?

Well as I have stated before that's how my son got in. I would urge you to keep in touch with your admissions officer, let the a/o know of your second quarter grades, any awards or leadership positions that come your way and also if you are being recruited for a sport keep in close contact with the coaches who can help your application.
From past experience about a third of the class comes off the alternate list so don't despair. Good luck!

thanks for the encouragement boss, i'll keep in touch with a/o - i've signed up for a college level math course and am going to retake my sats to see if that will help
