Got an interview with an alumni--very excited!

Wow, Stanford really has super speedy admissions! I only turned in my app for a few days

So excited. Stanford has always been my dream school. Hope it will go well!

I haven’t been informed about any interview. Should I be concerned?

@potterfan from what I know this is really early in the app process so I wouldn’t be too worried. Only been four days after all

Not everyone will get an interview. My S did not have an interview and is now a happy frosh at Stanford. He was admitted EA.

Do not be concerned if you don’t get one! And good luck!

Thank you!

@potterfan Is your geographic area one in which interviews are offered?

Keep in mind that the interview is informational, not evaluative. That means it’s not an important part of the admissions decision. Interviewers get no information about the applicant beyond contact information. It really doesn’t mean much.

What if I decline an invitation to interview since I never though Stanford had interview for people in my state but it was added just this year. But I have a few competitions/ events that is out of town that I scheduled before I though , based on previous year’s availabity, that Stanford will not have interview in my state. Woud declining an interview be detrimental?

oops double post

Frankly, it just sounds like you are trying to avoid having an interview from the way you worded your post. How do you know already that you’ll be out of town if the interviewer hasn’t even given you any dates? What if the interviewers offers to do it by Skype to accommodate your schedule? You should make every attempt to do the interview if one is offered. Interviews rarely move the needle one way or the other but avoiding one is generally not a good sign.
