Got assigned into a suite my freshman year!! Good or bad?

I'm really worried I'm not going to be able to make friends! I'll be totally isolated from the rest of my freshman class :(

On the bright side, I'm in one of the nicer suite buildings. There are 4 rooms that share a bathroom & a kitchen area, and the college gym is in the basement.

Am I going to be able to make any friends????? I'm also on the track team so I'm hoping that helps.

AH I WISH I WAS IN A REGULAR DORM :( I'm gonna have no friends now :(

I was in a suite last year and made plenty of friends. Just make sure you don’t spend all your time in your suite and you’re bound to meet other people.

I personally loved being in a suite. There was more privacy, plus I didn’t have to deal with communal bathrooms and showers. It’s also quieter than other dorm areas (or so I’ve heard), which was nice for studying.

You’ll be fine. You are still going to meet freshmen, it is just that you may have to travel to other parts of campus more to hang out with them. Plus you will meet people in the suites too. Although it isn’t as social as the dorms, there are still hundreds of people that live around you that you can meet. Also, suites are much better for having people over than a dorm room.

Just relax and be positive about it!

You’ll meet your suite-mates, and you’ll be meeting plenty of other freshman with all the orientation/beginning of the school year events. And you’re doing track? You’ll meet plenty of great people. Pretty much all of my good friends are also my xc/track teammates.

In addition to what everyone else has said, you can also invite people back to your suite to study or make a homemade dinner or something similar. You have something that a lot of your other freshmen friends won’t have, so you can always invite them over when they’re tired of sharing a room or being in a “regular dorm” crammed in with a bunch of other people. I know when I was first in an on-campus apartment, one of the things we did to hang out in the beginning of the year was go shopping and then make dinner. Fun stuff, when no one really knows how to cook.
