Just found out that I got into the CAP program at UT. I'm pretty mad about it, and I'm not really sure if its worth it. If I were to do it, though, I would definitely go to UT-Arlington. However, I also got into NYU, which is a much better school anyways, so I guess it doesn't matter in the end. Only problem is that NYU is about $45,000 a year whereas at UT I would be paying in-state tuition.

If you got into CAP, and are thinking of doing it, then I would reccommend UT-Arlington.

hey, i got CAPed too. at my school they basically CAPped anybody with a rank over 100. My friend who was top 11% got summer school! Just shows how competitive it was this year. I got into Purdue and several other good Texas schools but, we all know how hard it would be to try to transfer to UT without CAP. I've decided to take the offer and go to UTSA(the easiest one) next semester. UTSA has some of the nicest dorms in the UT system too. Good luck no matter what your decision is!

Thanks for the information on UTSA. When you say its the easiest one, do you mean the courses are easy or its the easiest UT system school to get into? If I do accept the CAP offer, I would probably choose between UTSA and UT-Arlington.

i have friends who say the classes are pretty easy and similar to high school. some of the teachers post all their notes online and give out straightforward tests. plus, it's the only one located in a big city(if you're into that). you have the option of picking a CAP roommate as well.

I got CAPed too, I feel your pain :(. I'm leaning toward saying "**** it", because I'm in other programs such as Baylor Honors, TCU Honors, and a&m engineering. Im not sure I want to go to UT-Arlington for a year when I could go to one of those 3 schools.

the thing about CAP, say you go to UTSA, where its pretty much the same as high school. while your friends that got into UT austin are struggling their freshman year, and probably wind up with a 3.0 or so, you go to UTSA and come into UT the next year with a 4.0. at UT austin, a 90 is a 3.0, whereas it is a 4.0 at UTSA. i think its a smart idea, because, in the end, your degree does not say "graduated from UT austin CAP program", it says "graduate of UT austin". it can be your dirty little secret that you got capped, because youll be sitting with a 4.0 at UT and have had a fun filled freshman year.
just a thought...

people that are CAP'd should also remember that when they get into UT for their sophmore year....they will still be Libral Arts majors....so if you want to do business or engineering or w/e.... you should remember that you are not for sure going to get into the school you want right away....

that being said ...its easier to get into UT being CAP'd then say going to another university and then transfering
