During the SAT, my proctor took my test and asked me to leave because she caught me while I was looking at the other section. I swear I didn’t change any of my answers on the previous sections and I told her exactly that. After she talked to her supervisor, she gave my test back and allowed me to finish the test and even gave me extra time to finish the section that I missed. After testing was over, she told me to inform my parents that my score might get cancelled or might not. She said she doesn’t really know. I saw her filling some kind of form out though and now I don’t know what to do
Do you guys think my score will get cancelled or not?? It’s my senior year and I really wanted to get over with sat in october. I’m really stressed out right now please help me out
Why would you look at the other sections? The rules EXPLICITLY say that you may not go to previous sections or look ahead.
I don’t think you would get in trouble for that. Sometimes I 100% finish my test early and I put down my answers and get bored waiting for them to collect my test, so I reread the english passages or sleep or paint my nails. As long as you didn’t modify your answers I don’t see why they would penalize you (unless the proctor is dishonest. Once I was simply darkening my pencil bubbles after I finished my exam and set aside the test booklet. The proctor showed up, she saw that my test booklet was closed but SOMEHOW noticed my bubbles were DARKER unlike before when she noticed they had been a LIGHTER shade, so she cancelled my test scores. Like WTF)
Moral of the story: these little details truly can’t be proven or disproven. It’s either your word or the proctor and when it comes down to it, everyone trusts the proctor over you, so if the proctor was honest then good for you. If not, be lucky that it’s just October and you still have another chance in November and if it really doesn’t get cancelled good for you, but it’s not the end of the world if it does.
This is untrue. The proctor will fill out an “irregularity report” and you very well might have your score canceled. Them’s the rules.
It seems like the best plan would be to do exactly as the testing instructions direct, even if you are “bored”.
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t say you can go back and darken in bubbles after time is called.
That’s definitely a tough break, and one I’m sure you’re upset about and will be until you know the results of the ‘irregularity report’. I’d assume the scores will be cancelled and plan to take the November 7th test. That will give you your scores by 11/22 and allow you to apply regular decision to most schools, and early decision to many with those scores. If by some luck they don’t cancel your scores from today’s exam, you’ll have two results to draw from and a lesson learned. Be honest with your parents and take action to get what you need from the next SAT testing opportunity. It’s about all you can do.
Do you have any idea when college board will notify me about the result of the irregularity report?? I just want to know so I can be mentally ready
And thanks for all the responses
