As the title says, I blew it on the retake and was forced to move up to the next class because no more than one retake is allowed (I got to UC Davis btw and am in the College of Bio Sci). My question is, if you need a C- or better for all major requirements, are my hopes of not just med school, but even getting a BS and a job finished?

I'm completely freaking out right now.

If you prove yourself in the next class (i.e. you need to work hard and get an A), then this class can probably be overlooked.

If it is too tough to bury that grade in your GPA or if it prevents progression in a major that you really are committed to finishing, you should think about transferring to a new school and getting a fresh start. Course credit transfers, but not grades, although I expect you will have to take the course again at your new school if it is a major requirement. Given the D and the D+, maybe it makes sense to take it by itself over a summer so you can devote full effort to the course and end up with a better outcome. Good luck.

Thanks omomma, but here if you repeat it more than once it’s called an illegal repeat (unless you file a petition with the dean and prove that some extenuating circumstances caused you to do poorly twice and you deserve a third go), I do not believe they allow it. I have heard from one guy I should take that course’s equivalent at a CC or repeat it during summer at UCD once I’m not a student there anymore. Whatever it is, I’m in a tough spot and frankly, transferring is out of question.
