Got deferred for EA UIUC, chances for getting in RD?

If you provided an alternative major on your application, then chances of admission to UIUC are likely good. Bioengineering is one the hardest majors to get into. If deferred RA that means you are still being considered for that major, and many deferred bio’s end up being admitted to second choice major, or alternatively to the Division of General Studies. If you provided only the bio major, then you are still being considered for it, but chances are likely fairly low for admission since the the absence of an alternative choice major means you will not be considered for any alternative choice.

I got deferred for Aerospace engineering as well. I have a 1530 SAT score but a slightly lower GPA because I was hospitalized right before my finals but I explained that in my application. Does UIUC accept letters of continued interest? How else can I improve my chances of getting accepted?

UIUC does not accept letters of continuing interest. If you send them, they will not be provided to anyone actually involved in making a decision as to whether you should be admitted. The only thing you can send to possibly improve your chances is a new and higher test score (from the Nov or Dec test dates). It also wants to know if you have changed your courses for second semester such as dropping a class you said you would be taking second semester. Otherwise, anything you send, will be ignored.

Are you in-state or OOS? What is the caliber of your HS? What about your coursework? What about AP classes? What about any subject tests? So much more goes into your GPA.

Your SAT score is relatively low for UIUC so if you are hoping for Bioengineering your chances are drastically reduced. However, if you will allow yourself to be reviewed for DGS you may be ok.
