k but i actually got acceped to uf. should i call the admissions office and talk to them about it?

yes, the person in the link i provided got accepted as well, but you do need to call them and explain. they only grant some.

off-topic kind of but I got accepted for summer B too, what does that mean? what kinds of classes would I be taking? like remedial classes or they just want me to start ahead? regardless, I am excited about my acceptance!

some people are invited to enroll in certain programs, such as AIM, STEP-UP, and such.. they give the students peer-mentors, and they weekly or bi-weekly meet with counselors to make sure they know the material that is being taught in the classrooms. Not a bad thing, my friend is in one of those programs making honors last semester. So if offered to you, take advantage!! Some others just get admitted to the summer because they have to balance everything out, everyone cannot come in the fall or vice versa. To learn more about those programs visit the UF Admissions page where you first applied and look in the outreach community or programs such areas like that.

I'm OK with son starting summer B if he can still get into Honors for the fall. A month and a half on campus will get him acclimated and he'll know his way around when all the rest of the freshman are going crazy settling in.

I've had serious reservations about UF. Son #1 crashed and burned there, although he has turned things around and will graduate from UF sometime this year. UCF and its honors college has been an absolutely great experience for son #2. I have a "things work out for the best" attitude, and frankly, the summer B thing makes me more comfortable with the whole UF thing, provided that this isn't a signal that he won't be getting into UF honors.

mom2three, my son has friends who are in honors and who did start last summer. My son had a huge group of friends who all started Summer B, as did my son. They chose by choice to apply to summer B since they heard it was a lot of fun. They did have a great time and now my son wants to do it again this summer. It is a great way to find your way around. I drove him up and it was nice and relaxed. When I went back up during the fall and just last weekend, the traffic is horrendous and the town is just packed. Summer is easy going and the kids really like it.

Thanks Helpful Mom. That's exactly what I was hoping the Summer B experience would be.

Neelyboy - my son had better stats and went in summer. Matter of fact, he had better stats than many class valedictorians from small schools who got in but he still chose to go Summer B and was very glad he did.
You will learn at preview that all the kids coming to school are the "best and the brightest" and they tell that over and over again to the parents. It's what you make of it.
My son really got acclimated over Summer B. Many of the kids he met from Preview and summer have become good friends today. Further, he'll be rooming with his summer roommate next year in Murphree. It really gave him a head start on the fall including finding a part-time job that he loves. So my recommendation is to take advantage of summer term; you'll be glad you did.

Sorry, but how can you appeal to change your term of entry?

thanks (Got into Spring 2010 and would like Fall or Summer '09 BTW)

someone said send a letter. but i would suggest asking admissions before you send anything.

^Is there any specific format for said letter?

i dont know, it was a mother on here dicussing that someone she knew sent a letter explaining why she needed it switch. you can get a letter started and just call them next week to see what you need to do.
