Got in NYU Stern.. Mixed feelings... whats wrong with me..

Everyone around me is so happy about me getting into nyu stern except for me.. is nyu stern actually good... for some reason i think it is overrated.. but everyone around me is like wow that is amazing..

i was deferred from wharton ed1 and i guess my heart is still stuck on it...

It’s one of the best business schools in the country.

Stern? Yes. It’s good. http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/business</a> #5, right after #1 Wharton and a three way tie for #2.

Note: this is for undergraduate business.

If you’re just asking this now why did you apply?

Rodrigo, you’ve had this psychodrama over stern (/wharton) for a year now. Grow up.
If you didn’t want to go there, you shouldn’t have applied.
Look at it this way: if you don’t get into Wharton and you have a choice between Stern and another college, will you pick Stern or the other college?

I know, it’s hard to let go of first choice. A lot of kids who have gotten pretty much anything they tried to get in terms of academic endeavors get their first rejections in the college process and it can hurt. Hard to get it out because a kid, say with his heart set on Harvard, who gets into Penn, can be very disappointed, but saying anything is setting him up for some snark from those who would give their right arms to get into Penn. It’s all about perspective. The same with NYU and Penn. There is a perceived pecking order and the emotions are often tied to it.

NYU Stern is a great school. Congratulations!

the pecking order statement is so true when it comes to the nyu and penn business schools

Listen man - Stern is still an awesome school and there are people that pick Stern over Wharton either b/c they want to live in/take advantage of the city and are ready to hustle as soon as they get here or they got more money. Either way at this level you are at a very strong target school and it will come down to you personally. If you come here with that attitude you are going to get wrecked.

There will still be people from Wharton that strike out at recruiting/getting a job they want because at the end it comes down to the individual.

If you had your heart set on Wharton and you were deferred, not rejected (45% were rejected),you shouldn’t have applied to stern early decision 2. It sounds like you panicked instead of waiting for the Wharton decision in the spring. But Stern is a great school. …You will be challenged and learn a lot. And if you don’t like it, you can transfer. It is done now. … so embrace Stern.
