No one is doubting that this person can get in with a 1700-1800 SAT score, it’s the grades that make it suspect. Straight C’s? I don’t think this is real.

But if it is real, and you maintained a C average in high school, you’re going to have to work extraordinary hard to do well at Carleton. Just saying.

First off, I want to congratulate you, thatniceGH, for your acceptance! Welcome to Carleton! I hope to see you around campus next year (that is, if we can locate one another, haha). :-)

To other posters: I understand that the “C average in high school” raises a few eyebrows. However, thatniceGH may have unusual circumstances that prevented him or her from otherwise earning higher grades. I can’t speak on behalf of the Carleton Admissions Committee, but I do know that, from my contact with the staff, it is a wonderful team that does its best to ensure that every applicant is read and considered for admission. Not every student at Carleton has had straight-As, near-perfect test scores, and rockstar-level resumes. Case in point? Me.

They love international students at carleton. People have more to offer than just test scores to create a richly diverse student body

Can we please agree to stop posting on this thread? I don’t think debating about whether or not a poster is lying about his or her acceptance contributes to this board in a positive way.
