Got into CLA! Scholarships?

Hi! I just found out on Applicant Tracker that I got into the Class of 2023 at CLA. I was wondering with this info…

Senior from a Public School in MA
GPA: 4.37 (W); 3.67 (UW)
Rank: 11th out of 285
APs: 5 Junior Year - Bio (5), Lang and Comp (4), Chem (3), Physics 1 (3), US History (4)
APs: 3 Senior Year - Spanish, Calculus AB (School doesn’t offer BC), Psychology
All honors classes through freshman and sophomore year, Honors and APs junior and senior
PSAT: 1340 (710 English, 630 Math)
SAT: 1450 (750 Math, 700 EBRW)

What scholarships do y’all think I might receive? Also when do I find out?

Thanks!

Wow, you’re the first I’ve heard that has gotten accepted, have you been checking daily? Didn’t think they were doing acceptances until October.

Sorry, I’m not sure about the scholarship question.

Congrats! When did you apply? My son applied to CLA over LD weekend and his tracker still reads “we have received all your materials . . .” But at least we all know to start looking every day now. Maybe Monday? [-O<

In the past, honors notification would begin in late October and scholarships in November. However, if you don’t receive anything right away, it doesn’t mean you won’t later on. Some brave families didn’t receive any merit till late spring last year!

Not answer to your question unfortunately, but I just got into CSE yesterday and you’re the first person I’ve heard of who’s also been accepted into the U of M haha

@courtneyb8 - congrats! Are you a MN resident or OOS?

@JBStillFlying thank you! Im a MN resident

@UMNMom I actually waited a couple weeks since the last time I checked and was quite surprised to see the notification!
@courtneyb8 I’m an out of state student (Massachusetts, actually) and I applied back in mid-August. I didn’t think they were doing acceptances until October at the earliest.
@JBStillFlying In years past, how did honors and scholarship decisions arrive? Snail-mail? Applicant tracker? MyU?

Also, my updated stats are…
Senior from a Public School in MA
GPA: 4.37 (W); 3.99 (UW)
Rank: 11th out of 285
APs: 5 Junior Year - Bio (5), Lang and Comp (4), Chem (3), Physics 1 (3), US History (4)
APs: 3 Senior Year - Spanish, Calculus AB (School doesn’t offer BC), Psychology
All honors classes through freshman and sophomore year, Honors and APs junior and senior
PSAT: 1340 (710 English, 630 Math)
SAT: 1450 (750 Math, 700 EBRW)

Because the OP wasn’t accurate. Sorry about that!

Honors appears in the Tracker, followed by snail mail.

Merit scholarships are via snail mail but I’d think they would show up in My.U eventually, although probably not till spring, when all FA is posted.

@JBStillFlying Do they have rolling notification like admissions was? Like, because I got admitted early in the process, is there a chance I find out earlier in the process?

@Bmahoney13 there is a definite chance, based on prior years, but each year they do tweak the process a bit so history may not predict the future. If you are admitted to Honors it probably does increase the likelihood you’ll be offered merit. Be sure to post if you see the honors notifications come out!

@JBStillFlying Will do!

OK - I believe my son was just admitted to CLA today. His communication center in MyU has a new message “NHS Admit - Fall”. And his tracker just changed to a very shortened message: “All of your required application materials have been received and an admission decision will be posted to this site. Thank you!” which typically signals that a decision is forthcoming very soon (although interpreting the Tracker is kind of like reading tea leaves . . .).

His stats are also good enough for Honors consideration so we will keep an eye on that as well. Communication Center didn’t specify the college of entry but he only applied to CLA. He’s a MN resident.

Update to #12 - Tracker updated this morning (not sure when exactly) to say he’s admitted to CLA.

@JBStillFlying Just got the admission packet yesterday in the mail, but what does “NHS Admit” mean?

@JBStillFlying I only ask because I have it too!

Daughter accepted today via online tracker to college of Engineering! Out of state. woo hoo! Will look forward to hearing about Honors college and any scholarships!

NHS Admit means New High School Admit. Basically same as First-Time Freshman.

"Students are admitted as either

  1. New High School (NHS) students, who have graduated from high school but have not previously matriculated to a post-secondary education institution. (They may have earned college credits while they were enrolled in high school.)
  2. New Advanced Standing (NAS) students, who have graduated from high school, who have enrolled in or earned credit in courses at another post-secondary education institution during the academic year. The NAS category includes students transferring from another University of Minnesota campus."

There may be a communication for honors or merit aid - not sure. We are checking my.U before the Tracker for the time being, on the theory that it generates either a Tracker update, an e-mail or a snail mail of some kind. More exciting than the Rosetta Stone! :-B

Just curious - when will the Honors college stuff be communicated?

@Bmahoney13 in your admissions packet, did you get an Honors College notification or any scholarship notification?
