Got into CSULA, might fail math

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm new to this forum.

Anyway, I got into CSULA a few weeks ago. It's the only school I applied to because I don't have a car, and I live reasonably close.

I have everything completed besides the math requirement. I had always been scared of math, but I took M50 and M70 prerequisites at my college last year and this spring I'm taking Statistics. It's the last thing I need.

Problem is I'm mostly likely going to fail. I've been getting D's on all my exams, and I've done horrible on the numerous pop quizzes and even missed a few of them.

The way the grades are calculated are as follows:

Quizzes 150
Homework 120
Exams 480 (120 each)
Final 250

I missed the deadline to drop with a W, and right now there's one exam left, the final, and a few hw and quizzes sprinkled in.

I'm a pessimist; I know I won't be getting a 100% on all of these, which is the only way I can slide by with a C currently.

I'm going to go to talk to my prof tomorrow during his office hours and see that if I improve over this coming exam and final, he'll take pity on me. God this is real sad.

I remember back in 2008 CSULA contacted my brother and let him know his admission would be rescinded if he didn't take math in the summer. I don't know if CSULA will extend me the same courtesy now in 2014. I know I can pass in the summer (won't list my excuse as I should have done better regardless).

I don't even know what I'm asking at this point. Maybe I just needed to vent since I have no one to talk to.

What are my options here?

Seriously, I advise you to speak to your school counselor too along with your professor. They have more experience with this type of thing. Next, he will most likely tell you to notify CSULA and hash it out with them. It’s up to their discretion what happens from there. But GO TALK TO YOUR COUNSELOR!!! They usually know what’s up :)

Yes! Like @mochabubble said, GO TALK TO YOUR COUNSELOR! or even better, contact CSULA and try to set up a meeting with one of their counselors. They might have more pity on you if they see you are interested in going to CSULA and are willing to make an effort. Just one thing, DO NOT give up on your college career, don’t let this one math course keep you from transferring to a 4 year.

Thanks for the responses.

Like I said I plan to visit my prof tomorrow and just set up an online appointment for a counseler on Thursday.

It’s just frustrating. I had a great paid internship oppurtunity in Orlando but I didnt take it because my parents wanted me to finish school. In February my parents found out I’m gay and kicked me out. Now im jobless, homeless, and maybe won’t even get into a four year.

Not sucidial or anything bit life can really suck sometimes lol. But eh what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Your homework is worth a whole exam grade-- that’s very generous of your professor. Why can’t you get 100% on these? Spending time on them to get 100 is worth it and some students would kill for an opportunity like that in their math classes.
