Hi, so I got into both under the production major and I am having a really tough time deciding.

I like the atmosphere of Chapman more I think overall, but the film school is what I am there for and I like the atmosphere of LMU's film school a lot based on my tour. It seems more laid back than Dodge (Chapman's film school), though Chapman has better facilities. Which one do you think has a better reputation and what can you guys at LMU film school tell me about it? What do you like/not like. How are the internships etc?

Thanks.

Congratulations, two great film schools, you probably can’t go wrong with either. What year are you? D has just finished soph year at LMU in production, has really enjoyed it, she feels she has made the best of her opportunities, esp. working on sets, mostly students but also outside through contacts made there. Yes, Chapman is bigger, better facilities, more modern, but LMU has what you need. I think you are right about a more laid back feel, but there are plenty of serious film students there. She is currently deciding between two internships for this summer, know other students with summer internships also. Not really an expert on it, but seniors seem to do either a thesis film of some type (which they fund) or do a major internship. They both have a good reputation, probably considered in top 5 undergrad programs in LA. LMU is definitely smaller and close knit, very cooperative for the most part.
Good luck choosing, is there a significant difference in price for you?

Thanks. I am getting virtually the same financial aid except Chapman is offering me more loans. The grants etc are almost the same.

If financial aid is the same T would say LMU for film production. The students in the film school are really cooperative. You’ll get a lot of support and people to collaborate with. What was it about the Chapman atmosphere that felt better to you?
