Got into my dream school. Should I say yes now or wait until I have all decisions?

Hi guys! I got into my dream school, UNC Chapel Hill, and the financial aid is great. I’ve received all of my other college decisions except NYU’s, which I will find out in April. I know that UNC is my top choice and that the financial aid will be better there so there’s really not many reasons to delay confirming my acceptance, but I still feel weird about confirming my acceptance without having heard back from all of the other schools I applied to.

UNC housing doesn’t depend on when you apply (they give you a random lottery number) but I still feel like the sooner I confirm, apply for housing and sign up for orientation/registration the better.

What have been your experiences with this? Should I confirm my acceptance now or wait until I have all offers?

If you’re sure, there’s no harm in confirming your acceptance and withdrawing your application from NYU.

SOME schools tell you that if they’ve accepted you and you decide to go elsewhere, they will be willing to re-activate your application the subsequent year should your first choice not work out for you. Not sure if NYU does this, but if they do, and if having that in your back pocket would make you feel better about moving ahead, you can wait to see that decision. It sounds, though, like you are certain.

If you want to go there for sure, 100%, confirm your acceptance. Since you’re trying to figure out whether or not to accept, maybe you want to go to NYU more than think.
