got into my safety:feel bad

Am i the only one whose safety was community college?

well i got into my dream school but without a scholarship…
then i got into my safety with a scholarship covering nearly 50% of the tuition…
my mom now insists that i go to my safety and transfer, but i would rather take a gap year and do something else than go to my safety. can’t afford that dream school!
I do feel a little badly that I got accepted with such a generous scholarship because it means I took the place of someone else who would have gotten my spot. But…we all need a safety.

…as long as I don’t actually have to enroll there…

^ It’s not a safety if you wouldn’t be happy to attend. Maybe not ecstatic, but you should be at least happy. So your “safety” isn’t a true safety.

well I am glad I got accepted in EA in my safety.

No, I didn’t. If nothing else, my stats helped to raise their profile.

if u didn’t want to go than why apply

Funny how the answer came after the question (not like the question-asker couldn’t see the answer).

^ I don’t know why I am being singled out for that comment…many others, notably ■■■■■■■■, have stated the EXACT same thing…

also, I was referring to OP, not Duper

I wouldn’t get your panties in a bunch. This board sometimes gets off sync in reply order.

I absolutely love my safety. In fact my “safety” was my top choice school before my biology teacher encouraged me to apply someone else. So my safety was my match and first choice too. But if I get into Yale, I would easily give up my safety. Oh my safety was University of Texas engineering, so it helps that my safety is AMAZING!!!

I hear it on this board a lot, and it rings true, LOVE THY SAFETY.

hawaiiboy15 – Yes, I do believe that some schools reject applicants due to ‘overqualified’ for their school. My D’s friend was rejected by Emerson and accepted at Juilliard and also at Princeton (with a very attractive scholarship). As well, a target school can really surprise you. My D’s target school WL’d her and she got into her very top reach school (one of the Little Ivies on the east coast). I believe things happen for reason. Both girls dearly love where they are.

susan53bc, if your D’s friend was applying to Julliard then she was most likely applying to a special performing arts program at emerson, which is more selective than the school as a whole. I know several people who have been rejected from programs at emerson, but then got into schools that are generally considered more selective.

Dont feel bad yet, you might be there in september.

I just got into my safety and I am ecstatic! I wouldn’t mind going there.

We went and visited Ds “safey” and loved it. I would highly recommed it. I am willing to write on a chalk board 100 times, oh thank you GC, for strongly suggesting C apply there. And we took it seriously, we visited, etc.
