...Does this mean for sure I will get a likely letter in the near future? I know I read something about that in a recent thread but I couldn't tell if any prospective student could get in, or if it was only likely letter recipients.

I got so excited, but I figured I might as well get this cleared up before my hopes get crushed! ^___^ If anyone could clarify for me, that would be great!

Just checked and I can get in, too!! Do you have this on your application status page-Class of 2015 Website-“Curious? We hope so. If you haven’t already received an update from us, you will soon?” It is on mine. Don’t want to get my hopes up, either.

I don’t know if people will agree with me here but with my son, I told him that it is better to psyche himself for a rejection as he has not gotten a likely letter in the last two waves. You guys agree?

^No, I think he should go through the next month or so with a positive attitude. And as a parent, you should have faith in him, no matter what the result. That’s just my opinion though, because I would be saddened and discouraged if my parents told me to brace myself for rejection.

Agree with smile99, banjan if your kid even applied to Dartmouth it means he or she had a fabulous high school education and accomplishments and will get accepted into many schools. I would say that after April 1 you will see that the shoe will be on the other foot and your child will feel badly in returning postcards saying, “no thank you” to some awesome schools. Instead of rejection, it is simply a decision by one school that based upon the [HUGE] applicant pool that year there was just not enough room for another amazing and talented student. Trust me, your next thoughts will be on what sweatshirt and t-shirt to order. And then, how am I going to pay for all of this! Put the champagne on ice and enjoy February and March together. It sure is quiet once they leave.
