Got it down to 7 schools - which one's am I in/out?

Thanks to all the help and suggestions i've received from everyone on this site. Many colleges that people have reccomended i've considered and thought about for a long time. I've ruled some out, made some decisions, and now i've got it down to 7 that I feel i'd be comfortable at.

Please let me know my chances of getting in. I'd like to try it a different way. Try and use percentages please, it helps rather than a "ehhhh... you have a decent shot." Also let me know if i'm in or out. If this is too confusing, just comment please!

COLLEGES I'M CONSIDERING APPLYING TO

North Carolina
Florida
Illinois
Miami FL
Michigan
Georgia
Indiana

MY CREDENTIALS:

GPA: 3.53 uw academics

Curriculum: 7 AC courses, 2 AP courses (will take 2 AP courses senior year)

ACT: 29

Location: Michigan

Major: Sport Administration/Management

ECs: Ice Hockey (captain, state finalists), Orchestra (two-time competition winner, president, 1st chair, awards within), Helped found a premier sports website on the web, write for the site currently (won an award with the site), Helped build and maintain Disc Golf course while a part of Frisbee Club, member of National Honors Society, Volunteer at local thrift shop, worked with local newspaper for 5 years (won awards during service). Candidate for class president (didn't win :-( )

I'm sorry I don't know the colleges you're applying to, except I'm applying to Indiana Bloomington. From what I know about it, you have a really solid chance with the ice hockey and the orchestra (what instrument do you play? If it's double bass or something, you're so in). Your grades are good, and you seem like a good person.

Good luck with the rest.

UNC-uber uber reach, you need perfect stats out of state.
UF-Slight Reach
UI-UC-Slight Reach
Miami-Match
Mich-Match
Georgia-Match
UI-Safe Match

you probably need a solid safety. Gl hf :)

Applying to all State schools pretty much means you will have to have way higher stats than most of those you'll be going to school with who will be in State. Is that what you want?

Percentages:
UNC- 1%, sorry not to burst your bubble but its unrealistic.
UI-UC- 33%
Miami-50%
Mich-70%
Georgia-40%
UI-75%
UF-37.667%

Thats a rough approximation, take them for what they're worth...
Basically I'll be blunt:
You probably aren't getting in CH, but if you love the school apply there :)
Illinois, Florida, and Georiga are going to be reaches, you may get into a 1, 2, or 3, or not in any-its a wash. You'll probably get into michigan, ui, and miami.
But this is just IMO based on what you gave me. Cheers!

LOL, I really didn't think I had a chance at UNC when I learned of their quotas, so I had that ruled out anyways. And I didn't want to pay 70 bucks for their application anyways!

What about Syracuse? Will they and Miami FL likely accept me? They are expensive though.

So i'm seeing it like this...

REACH (33% chance)-
Florida
Illinois Urbana-Champaign

SLIGHT REACH (50% chance)
Miami FL
Georgia

MATCH (70% chance)
Michigan

SAFETY (80+% chance)
Indiana

Someone asked about the instrument... I play Cello, so that's a plus! Not Violin, like every other applicant.

All of these schools my ACT score fits in the top 50-75% range, so I would be applying as one of the higher scorers. My GPA is low, but that is attributed to the hard course load I took and the competitive school i'm at. It's still solid.

You should apply to CH anyway-if it was your dream. Who knows, perhaps they need a new cello player :)
I think Miami Fl and 'Cuse are matches, try to find some good private safeties who'll give you $$$$ :)

CH wasn't my dream though, it's UMich... that's my #1 choice.

Oh BTW, I checked out UNC-Chapel Hill's application. Guess how much? $70 bucks... yeah, right.

Admission to UIUC is almost solely based on your class rank at the end of junior year and your ACT score, so you can't really tell anything from just your GPA. Also, why does everyone think Michigan is less selective than UIUC? Unlike most state schools, UIUC does not discriminate against out-of-state students in admissions.

This guy is in-state...

Yeah, the only reason I have Michigan higher lower than UIUC when concerning my chances is because i'm from Michigan, and i've got legacy, and bonus points for going to a school, working in my favor.

I don't think you'll have a problem getting into UMich, its such a great school :) Gl hf!

BTW - I've already applied to Michigan, Miami FL, Indiana, Florida and Georgia. Well, I filled out the information, I need to send transcripts and test scores, but my school doesn't start until August. It's still good to get scores in early September, and that gives me a good chance, right?

I'm thinking of sticking with these 5 schools. Indiana is my safety. I think I have a great chance there. I think that Illinois is too rural of a school for me, if anyone has an opinion on the school, let me know. Or any schools for that matter.

"Someone asked about the instrument... I play Cello, so that's a plus! Not Violin, like every other applicant."

^^^huge plus! i play piano, cello, violin, viola and bass, but my guidance counselor said that cello and oboe WILL get you into colleges... they're "unusal" instruments... be sure to put that on your application... it's a plus!

btw, have you looked at Syracuse?!? you def. should :-)

I looked at Syracuse, but I didn't like it's location and climate. The price tag is also a factor there as well. I like the school, but i'm not sure about how much worse it would be climate wise in the winter than Michigan. My parents have already expressed disinterest with me going out of state, specifically bringing up the price tag issue, and Syracuse doesn't help me. If I could obtain some scholarships, that would help greatly.
