But there's nothing about housing in here.
I submitted the $25 priority deposit way back last year, so what's the next step for me? Also, is there some way I can verify my priority date?

Got mine's too!

You should have gotten a housing CD a couple of days ago in the mail. Also, you can register for housing online at http://my.housing.ufl.edu/.

Yeah admissions and housing are different departments, so don't expect things together when dealing with that stuff. Housing only gets who was accepted from the registrars office.

I heard something really strange today. That there was a major glitch in the UF admission's office and about 1000 kids did not get any decision because UF lost their transcripts! I heard that UF may be recinding some of the online acceptances because some of these 1000 kids need to be accepted to UF and there needs to be room for them. The GC at my kids school confirmed this with a friend of mine telling her to not notify any other schools that she is not attending until she actually gets the admission's packet in the mail. NO ADMISSIONS PACKET = NO ACCEPTANCE. The validictorian at our local public high school (class of 800 students) is one of the kids whose information was lost by UF and is still waiting for a decision.

Oh dear. Here comes the rioting.........

Apparently a rejection is still a rejection though. If this is true, it would make appeals this year very unlikely to be successful.

Sounds to me like the freshman class at UF is going to be huge next year. My class size is about 600 and several of us were accepted.....even though we applied to many other colleges and still haven't heard from some....everyone I know has decided to go to UF. What happens if -of the 10,000 accepted many more that 6600 decide to attend?

If more than 6600 decide to attend there will be a huge problem that will be UF's fault and no one else's... if they decide to drop people to make room in the class there will be a huge problem and if one of those people is me I will personally go to the campus and start cussing all the administration out until they let me back in. They should know how many acceptances to send out and how many that will yield even if it should have been 9000 instead of 10000 this year they should prepare for more enrolled students because of the university's rising popularity. They have PROFESSORS who work there that can make educated guesses on this stuff based on the popularity, surveys, preliminary research, etc. Knowing that the college knows better, I wouldn't worry about that possibility too much.

What I heard is that you are fine if you get a packet in the mail....No packet= danger of recind. The GC said it even said on the admissions letter (online) that the acceptances are not final until the confirmation in the mail. I wouldn't know about this though since my child was rejected online.

If 1,000 of the transcripts were lost, that's only 370 admits going by the admission rate so far. I haven't gotten my admission packet yet, despite already confirming my enrollment. However, I'm not too nervous considering its a 370/10000 chance of getting rescinded.

ahh, I didn't get my admissions packet yet. =/ I can't believe UF did that! I'm nervous.

If it gets to more than 6600 (maybe >6700) they are going to start rescinding decisions. UF cant support more than that. It happened a few years ago where UF had 100 more than expected and it caused many problems (no housing-forced prem triples, classes filled to the max).

What package did it come in? As in USPS, DHL, FedEx, etc.?

US Postal ...

this is a pressing issue.
So that explains all the people who did not get a reply yet, especially floridamomx3(i believe).

Didn't everyone that got rejected already get their rejection letters?

Hmmmmmm..hmmmm...hmm? Was it College Board who sent the SAT's without birthdate or more likely some grunt in UF admissions who entered the scores without the birthdate. I am thinking it is now more likely the latter, given this new revelation regarding transcripts. Maybe they hired some FSU grads to do it? teehee

The admissions counselor assigned to my son's case is very very nice. Maybe this is why. I must say that even if there was an (unfair?) glitch in their system, I appreciate her kindness and attention to my son's application. Given the demand to attend UF, they could easily be jerks in that office.

Today she told me they finally "found" his SAT scores and so he is ready for a decision. When that will be, she could not say. So we're playing the February 15th game of constant checking and refreshing. LOL

This is so much fun! At least i'll be an expert for #2 and #3.

Can anyone confirm what seiclan mentioned?

I got my rejection letter today. They didn't even get to the point until the middle of the second paragraph. It then went on to say I should try transferring to UF as an upperclassman or going to grad school there blah blah blah.

My acceptance letter came in the mail today but no housing dvd or packet. I feel like I can't wait and I'm doing housing online since my deadline date is March 10th.
DVM258 - I'm so sorry about the rejection letter. My best friend got hers today also. She had great stats, too. We've both been real sad about it. She's decided to go to FSU and is busy with housing decisions, etc. Don't you think transferring as an upperclassman is something to consider if you can't get in by appeal. You, more than most seem to really want to go to UF. Too bad that people that decide not to attend can't assign their acceptances to others.... Good luck to you!
