Got my deferral, praying for acceptance

Even better! My D goes there and I don’t even know how it works! All I know is she is very, very happy there! Congrats!

bhmomma - were you there Thursday morning in the Jazz class, by any chance? I hope you all had a lovely visit!

I think your D has been accepted for MT. If not admitted for MT, you are not then admitted to PSU otherwise. My bets are on this being it! When my D got in, that is exactly what it looked like. So, I think happy news is inside.

Sualabama, we arrived Thursday, trying to miss the snow storm on the East Coast. She sat in on classes Friday (jazz, ballet, Art of Theater, and a movement class) in addition the information session. I did not sit in on classes-let her make her own opinion. Audition was Sat. the 27th. Sadly she was not offered an interview :frowning: despite her feeling that her audition had gone well. Her “unofficial” report of students exiting the audition was that they hadn’t seen anyone offered an interview by the time she went in.

My D is in- very excited! It was posted on-line this morning. Good luck everyone!

Congrats to your daughter. Son was waitlisted. Very Hapy!

Congrats-hope we can add you to the PSU family of MT.

Thanks everyone! Jacksdad- she is going to visit the campus on the 29th for a couple of days, so is very excited about sitting in on classes, and meeting everyone!

Mother of Singing Actress here. Interesting situation. She got the thin letter from PSU Admissions yesterday (Monday) saying she was wait listed and to let them know if she wanted to be considered for a campus other than University Park??? Then, today, she got a letter from Libkin saying that there were two lists…and that she was on the second list of applicants that would be considered a wait list and to keep in touch.

I was deferred and I’m really hoping to get in! Congrats to those who are in! Has anyone who was deferred heard yet or know when we should hear?

Classact, does the letter state there are 2 waitlists, or 2 lists of students - those admitted and those on the waitlist? I do know at least one person in the Class of 2013 is from the wait list.

I’d like to defer to SoozieVT, as I was under the notion that some BFA applicants are offered a BA spot in Theatre Arts at either the University Park campus or the Berks campus, but that may not be the case without a separate application and audition. Soozie? Classact’s letter almost sounds as though that may be happening here? What do you think?

I can’t say for sure what is happening for Classact’s D, but it sounds like she is waitlisted for the BFA at Penn State. And I suppose PSU may offer spots at their other campuses to those who made a wait list but that may not be for theater. I don’t know if Classact’s D filled out something on the app that said she was willing to be accepted for another major if not accepted for MT?

I kinda doubt she’d be considered, however, for PSU’s BA Theater program on the main campus as that has its own audition.

The upshot (based on what I am reading here) sounds like a wait list for the BFA in MT and for PSU itself.

But when unsure of what the notification means, it can never hurt to call. I can’t be sure exactly the implications here, but I am reading it as a wait list for BFA and for main campus even for another major.

Classact, Call Paula in the MT department, she is more than willing to explain the situation. My daughter is waitlisted for the MT program. We only recieved one letter but her application status lead us to believe she was academically waitlisted. Paula will explain the 2 lists and what will be happening over the coming months. Best of luck to you.

My son was waitlisted as well and received both letters as described above. I did not think to call Paula however I did write to an admissions counselor to get an explanation as to wether my son was waitlisted from the college or the MT program or both. The answer I received was that he was waitlisted from the MT program and that if or when a spot may open up they would be in touch. If my son did not want to remain on the wait list he could consider other programs at other schools. We plan to stay in touch and “wait” it out as we are still waiting to hear from other schools. Hope this helps.

Yay, waitlist.

I was deferred and I got my rejection letter yesterday. Good luck to everyone!
